Diakonia Asia Regional Office is recruiting a Programme Officer for Myanmar

Placement: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Duration: Temporary 1 year contract with possible extension

Planned starting: March 2023

Report to: Team Leader

 

Are you the one we´re looking for?

Diakonia works with Myanmar civil society organisations (CSOs) and networks which are working for the most vulnerable people with holistic development approach on thematic areas of disaster risk reduction, gender equality, conflict and justice, sustainable livelihood, environmental sustainability, including the mainstreaming of Gender, Environment and Conflict Sensitivity.

 

The purpose of the assignment is for coordinating programs across thematic areas with human rights-based approach and feminist principles and supports local civil society organisations (CSOs) operating in Myanmar under the guidance and supervision of the Consultant Team Leader. You will be working with team, oversee guide partner organizations in planning, monitor the development according to on-going and planned initiatives. It requires travelling project areas in Thailand and Myanmar.

 

Major Responsibilities

§  Strengthen the operation for local civil society organisations (CSOs) according to on-going and planned initiatives.

§  Follow up on partnerships initiatives, deliverables, reports, contracts, and other commitments and requests for information with associated communications as needed.

§  Monitor, evaluate, and report on local civil society organisations' work conducted in accordance with the Diakonia’s PMEL handbook.

§  Support capacity building and organisational development of CSOs to date and make recommendations for the future to enhance the effectiveness of partnership.

 

Qualification and Experience

§ Minimum four to five years job experience of development work, programme development and budget and field level monitoring using LFA and RBA.

§ Minimum bachelor degree or equivalent, within any of the areas of development studies, democracy, and human rights.

§ Experience of mainstreaming of gender, environment, and conflict sensitivity in work.

 

Competence

§ Strategic and analytical ability.

§ Personal maturity and social skills.

§ Ability to communicate proficiently in spoken and written English and Myanmar.

§ Capacity to work in teams, as well as taking own initiatives and work independently.

§ Good administrative skills and well-organised.

§ Good computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Merits

§ Experience of working with NGOs/ CSOs and funding agencies.

§ Experience about European Commission and/or other potential back donors.

§ Experience of working with fundraising and proposal writing.

§ Familiar with Diakonia.

 

This position is open to Thai citizen who has knowledge and experience working in Myanmar context.
