The United Nations Young Professional Programme (YPP) intake is an annual highlight for young professionals under the age of 32 years. Only under-represented UN member states are invited, hence you may not be eligible this year. But don't give up, add a reminder to your calendar, next year may be your chance.

Around June every year, the YPP opens up the doors for a new round. I have written this article for all of you who successfully have applied and are now preparing for the YPP Exam.

Only 4% of all candidates who take the written exam for the YPP pass. I don't want this fact to discourage you, but rather to understand how much you need to prepare yourself. If I was in your clothes, I would prepare myself with the UN Secretariat’s sample questions and use Impactpool’s test guide, a guide that is also useful to other UN exams.

The admission exams for the United Nations Young Professional Programme (YPP) include several steps.

Only the top candidates who take the written exam will be invited for the next step, the interview.

To prepare for the exam it is recommended to read global newspapers, journals, and magazines. It is advised to go back to your university literature and refresh yourself on important and basic theories within the job family you have applied for.

Also, it is a good idea to learn about the work and understand the structure of the United Nations, this Ebook  may give you a good overview.
