How to build a career in Foreign Affairs

Many of us are actively here searching on the Impactpool site for an opportunity to not only make a sustainable and positive impact during our careers, but also to have the opportunity to have an international experience engaging with international policy issues, be they to do with peace and security, climate change, universal health for all, aid and development or trade. 

 

Aside from working at one of the United Nations Agencies, an International NGO, a sustainable startup, a development bank or a foundation, working in Governmental / Diplomatic missions such as foreign services is an option not explored by many. This is because we see and hear about ambassadors, consulates, foreign ministers and diplomats, but oftentimes are not sure how they got there.
