Read the career success story of Mir Abdullah Burhani, a former MANDEV student who is now the Operations and Program Deputy Team Leader within the German Development Bank-KfW funded Kabul River Transformation (KARIT) project in Afghanistan.

Name: Mir Abdullah Burhani Student 2017/2018, from Afghanistan

Profile: I have ten years of experience in project management and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) with several International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) in Afghanistan. Currently, I am working as the Operations and Program Deputy Team Leader within the German Development Bank-KfW funded Kabul River Transformation (KARIT) project.

The University of Turin/ITCILO ManDev Program helped me to enhance my knowledge and skills on a wide range of topics (i.e. project planning, project management, monitoring and evaluation, social and environmental issues etc.) in a relatively short period of time. This course and the campus environment provided me a unique opportunity to enjoy learning through group and teamwork, team-based projects, interactive class-based activities, exchange of experiences and best practices with our classmates, and using a case study approach to the most relevant and pressing issues we face in our companies and countries”

My career and projects: By obtaining my master’s degree, I have gained global exposure and experience that helped me to land in a senior management position three months after graduation. I am currently working at a renowned company for a very high-profile project in my home country Afghanistan. Thankfully, I am now able to work more efficiently and effectively serve my country and further add value to the Company.
