The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is recruiting four Chiefs (D1) for the FAO Investment Centre (CFI)

FAO investment centre (CFI) is now recruiting four seasoned leaders with experience delivering investment and finance support solutions in a global context to fill the posts of regional Chiefs (D1). Application deadline by May 27, 2022!

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. Since 1964, FAO has helped developing and transition countries invest in agriculture and rural development over the long term to improve the lives and livelihoods of their citizens, especially the rural poor. During this period, FAO has contributed to more than 2 300 investment projects in 170 countries, working with 30 international partners. To date, FAO’s work with international financing institutions has helped leverage investments valued at over USD 146 billion.

The FAO Investment Centre 

FAO provides a wide range of technical assistance and investment support. The majority of this work is carried out by the FAO Investment Centre (CFI), where the diversity of its 120 "staff", including 20 in regional and subregional offices is one of its biggest assets. CFI have experts in economics, agricultural development, agronomy, crop and livestock development, climate change, natural resources management, forestry, irrigation and drainage, land and water development, land tenure, marketing, agribusiness and value chain development, monitoring and evaluation, rural sociology and other disciplines.

CFI aims to be the go-to place for investment and finance solutions that lead to more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and resilient agrifood systems. Working in over 120 countries, CFI provides a full suite of investment and finance support to FAO Members. It partners with governments, international financing institutions, national and international organizations, the private sector, research institutions, academia and producer organizations to improve the quality and quantity of agrifood investment. The Investment Centre’s four main areas of work include support to strategic investment planning and policy, public investment, private investment, and innovative finance. These are complemented by the knowledge for investment and capacity development for investment programmes that serve to share knowledge more widely and position the Investment Centre as a trusted voice on investment and finance.

 

CFI is a multidisciplinary Centre comprising the Director’s office, which leads on strategy and business development, knowledge management, communication and administration, and five regional services: Asia and the Pacific; East and Southern Africa; Near East and North Africa, and Europe and Central Asia; Latin America and the Caribbean; and West and Central Africa.
