Recruiting for gender parity in the deep field is one of my biggest challenges as Chief of the Recruitment Section for UN Field Missions. Recently, I spent a few days in Gao and Timbuktu in Mali holding focus groups with female international staff working in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
