Position Summary:

The Gender Specialist will be responsible for integrating gender into project design and implementation, addressing gender disparities and delivering a high-quality, results-oriented program Strengthening girls' participation and learning in early grade classrooms

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Working in collaboration with the Program team, provide overall technical leadership to achieve results, ensuring that gender is integrated and aligned with overall project activities.
• Dimension I: Building a strong gender perspective within LLF - Building a gender-responsive organizational culture and governance that also equips and encourages staff to adopt proactive approach to inclusive programming.
• Dimension II: Building gender-inclusive programming in LLF’s work that impacts state FLN programs - Supporting academic institutions at state level in 5 states to develop gender inclusive learning and teaching materials and training programs for teachers and academic support staff.
• Dimension III: Demonstrating classroom level change that achieves better FLN learning for all with a focus on inclusive learning and teaching processes and gender equality - Demonstrating a scalable model of a gender inclusive classroom culture that helps achieve effective participation and FLN learning outcomes for girls and other children belonging to marginalized groups.
• Collaborate with Monitoring & Evaluation team for monitoring systems appropriately capture gender outcomes, monitor potential unintended consequences, and assist program staff and partners to take corrective action, as needed.
• Coordinate design and facilitation of gender training for project staff, partners, and other key stakeholders, and ensure partners understand how gender is integrated into the project’s overall approach and implementation.
• Conduct gender analysis and assessment related to the program activities.
• Ensure results of gender analysis are incorporated into implementation plans.
• Facilitate quarterly learning and work planning sessions with staff to assess results and adapt approaches to be responsive and reflective of learning.
• Provide technical assistance, support, and information to government officials.
• Represent the project and LLF to donors, local and national government entities, local NGOs, and the local business community as needed.
• Management of events and publications on gender issues.

Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Educational Qualification:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a social sciences, economics, gender issues, or other development-related fields.
• Specialized studies on gender.

Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in development, focusing on gender programming, part of which has been in the field, with experience on gender equality and women’s rights.
• Experience working with a variety of stakeholders related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, including Governments and partners as required
