Mission and objectives
UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to help and protection to a population of 5.7 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank, and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.
Context
This UNV assignment is part of the 2023 Humanitarian context in Gaza. Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Head of External Relations Services, the UN Volunteer will: • Monitors reporting to donors; reviews, edits, and finalizes project documents, progress/final reporting packages to ensure compliance with UNRWA project management manual, consistency and coherence prior to final submissions to donors. • Monitors project implementation to ensure compliance with approved proposals, agreement stipulations, reports generated from the Agency’s Financial System, financial statements and Projects Unit’s database; provides analysis of donor funded projects to management; regularly reviews and monitors the financial status of active projects, including income and expenditures; verifies and ensures consistency between the profile of expenditure and contractual stipulations. • Ensures timely submission to donors of project proposals, reporting and financial documents; provides guidelines, instructions, suggestions and recommendations to ensure their alignment with agreement stipulations and reporting requirements. • Establishes and maintains close relationships with projects stakeholders Agency-wide through effective communication, consultation and collaboration to manage and troubleshoot, when needed, on projects implementation related issues; updates information on grant agreements, reporting requirements, project chronology and contractual amendments. • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
