Organizational Context: This is a vacancy in the General Service category for which local recruitment procedures apply in accordance with the Staff Regulations of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union. Staff members subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances and benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment. _______________________________________ With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services. |

Main duties: Participate in the activities of the Arabic Documentation Processing Unit (UTD.AR). 1. Within the framework of the preparation of meeting documents for the Postal Operations Council, the Council of Administration and the Congress, and of various other International Bureau publications and documents : - format (or type as required) texts, documents and various publications, making the corrections as indicated and producing the final proof; - participate in the checking of work formatted by the Arabic Documentation Processing Unit (UTD.AR); - input final versions of official texts and documents into the translation memory software ; - carry out page-setting work and adapt official document models to the Arabic language, using the software used by the International Bureau; - maintain the Arabic-language document database (document of the UPU bodies and International Bureau circulars) on the Intranet and Internet ; 2. Replace, on request, the head of the Arabic Documentation Processing Unit (UTD.AR) in case of absence for daily works. |

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED | |||
Education: Achieved secondary studies and equivalent technical or commercial studies |

Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience of office / administrative duties and similar |

Technical knowledge:
1. Very good knowledge of formatting and typing techniques 2. Sound knowledge of document presentation 3. good knowledge of graphic arts software (Indesign) is an asset 4. Good knowledge of the functioning of translation software (Trados is an asset) 5. Good knowledge of procedures for publishing documents on the Intranet and Internet 6. Very good knowledge of Word software 7. Good knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel |

Language skills: Proficiency in Arabic. Working knowledge of French and/or English. |
