VACANCY FOR HEPATITIS C SELF-TESTING PROJECT

Purpose: SAATHII seeks to appoint 3 Transcriber (2- UP and 1 â Mizoram) for a Hepatitis C Self-Testing project implemented by PATH as consortium lead and SAATHII as one of the major implementing partners based in UP and Mizoram.
About SAATHII: SAATHII, a registered non-profit organization, was founded with a vision to stabilize and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in India. Over the years its mission has expanded to strengthen and scale up access to stigma-free healthcare, social protection and legal services for communities affected by HIV, TB, COVID, viral hepatitis and other conditions, as well as those marginalized-on account of gender, sexuality, incarcerated status and other factors. SAATHII is headquartered in Chennai, with 11 other offices across the country.
Background of the Project: To support attainment of the national goal of eliminating HCV by 2030, SAATHII, with funding support from PATH, along with other partners, proposes to conduct an HCVST acceptability and usability study among those most at risk for HCV.
Overall, the study will be implemented in two phases: Phase 1: Rapid Formative Assessment (RFA)) which is using a qualitative survey, informing the subsequent phase on communication strategies, recruitment strategies, and acceptable distribution models and Phase 2: Intervention Study (IS), which is using quantitative survey to understand acceptability and usability of the self-test kits. The study will be conducted in selected districts of Mizoram and Uttar Pradesh (UP) States.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Should be present and take notes during Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and In- Depth Interviews (IDIs) during Rapid Formative Assessment phase
2. Should be able to transcribe and type contents of audio interviews in Hindi or English to text documents [for Lucknow]
3. Should be able to transcribe and type contents of interviews in Mizo or English to text documents [for Aizawl]
4. Develop and keep record of the audio files with a unique code, based on type of approach (FGD/IDI/KII), type of population and the State/ National codes.
5. Keep adequate hard copies of data collection forms as needed for the study, as it is required in local language and English version for reference.
6. Provide daily reports on the progress made on task assigned
7. Submitting completed transcription drafts to research team and correcting any errors as per their feedback.
The Expected Deliverables are:
⢠Listen to live proceedings or audio and video recordings to create written versions of them.
⢠Creating accurate written versions of audio and video recordings, reviewing and editing transcriptions done by speech recognition software, and identifying any inconsistencies.
⢠Understanding client specifications and noting any formatting or notation requests prior to completing the transcription.
⢠Completing transcriptions in a timely manner and reviewing drafts for any spelling, grammar, or formatting errors, as well as other inconsistencies.
⢠Adhering to all confidential guidelines and respecting sensitive information.
⢠Showing up on time for scheduled focus group discussions and interviews.
⢠Keeping abreast of transcription software updates and attending meeting when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
⢠Bachelor's degree with relevant experience. Degree requirement may be waived in case of exceptional experience
⢠Persons, who had prior experience of working with PWID and at-risk population is an added advantage.
⢠Proficiency in MS Office, Express Scribe, and other software.
⢠A good typing speed with excellent reading and editing skills.
⢠A high degree of professionalism and able to keep all sensitive information confidential
⢠Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
⢠Disciplined and have excellent listening skills.
⢠Willingness to work overtime if required.
⢠Good typing speed and superb attention to detail and be.
⢠Exemplary oral and written communication skills in English, Hindi, Mizo and local languages.
⢠Willingness to be located in focal state, and travel at least 15-20 days per month to field locations
Consultancy Period: Two months (2 months), starting immediately
Other support: SAATHII will provide the following support:
a. Access to all required documents and information for developing the report
b. Facilitate ongoing discussions on assigned activity as required
c. Timely assistance towards review and finalization of documents
