Job Title: Programme Coordinator - Environmental Sustainability

Department: Emergency Management and Developmental Programs

JOB SCOPE:

AKAH India is looking to recruit motivated development practitioners to support the Environment Sustainability (ES) Portfolio of Emergency Management & Developmental Programs. Programme Coordinator, Environment Sustainability will provide overall support in planning and execution of all programs under this portfolio. This portfolio will include donor supported projects on thematic areas such as water security, waste management, climate change adaptation practices, WASH, Enviroshala – promotion of resilient practices in schools, and integrated /holistic rural development. S/he will be responsible for day-to-day coordination to ensure effective implementation of all project activities and support in preparation of Annual and Quarterly Work Plans, Budget, Financial Reports, etc under the strict deadlines and within approved budget while maintaining optimum quality.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

1. Support Programme Head (ES) in ensuring smooth and effective functioning of the environmental sustainability portfolio.
2. Support the team of development professionals i.e., Program Managers, Area Coordinators and Consultants to ensure timely and quality programme deliverables.
3. Regularly review and monitor the ES projects and ensure that the state teams follow the project guidelines.
4. Responsible for design development, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation of ES programs.
5. Conduct regular field visits to support the project implementation process and prepare periodic progress reports as required.
6. Conduct appropriate field research to determine needs and contexts, establishing strategic direction, setting objectives, planning detailed activities, monitoring progress, providing problem solutions and course correction.
7. Support in developing the new partnership linkages and ensure for new avenues under ES Programs with various public and private agencies.
8. Develop new concept notes and project proposals in the areas of ES.
9. Maintain good relationship with target communities, relevant government authorities, Non-Government Organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
10. Ensure that project documents are complete and maintained appropriately.
11. Produce relevant presentations and documentation to key group and relevant stakeholders.

SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)

Education: Master’s in Environmental Management, Disaster Management, Social Work or other social sciences

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Social Sector.
