Duties and Responsibilities
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security, and environmental protection. To that effect, ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in developing intellectual property. The Revenue and Product Development (RPM) Section is part of the Capacity Development Implementation Bureau (CDI) and is focused on the organization's revenue-generating activities. The portfolio of revenue-generating activities includes publications, periodicals, databases, websites, training, printing, and events. The revenues generated by these activities are required to promote ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and carry out related Programme Support. The Section is responsible for the overall strategic planning, stakeholders’ collaboration, coordination, promotion, and distribution of these sellable products in close coordination with the other Bureaus/Offices of the Organization. The Product Management Unit (PTM) is responsible for identifying, analysing, and implementing revenue-generating opportunities in ICAO. This team contains the marketing team, which is responsible for marketing ICAO products, services, and events. Under the Head of the Product Management Unit, the Video Editor will work as part of the marketing team to produce and edit videos for the new “ICAO Explained" video series, the Video Editor will be responsible for sourcing and researching relevant materials, conceptualizing and planning the content, and managing the entire production process including post-production. The incumbent will ensure the videos are engaging, informative, and aligned with ICAO’s branding and communication goals. The Video Editor will work with various software programs to visualize and create a 72-minute high-quality video covering 12 different topics that raise global awareness of ICAO’s mission and accomplishments, drive engagement with stakeholders and the general public, and amplify the 80th anniversary theme. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Function 1 (incl. expected results) Sourcing and doing research, achieving results such as: • Work with ICAO focal points and the draft script and storyboard for the project, conduct thorough research on the twelve ICAO areas that were chosen to be highlighted in the video series. • Gather archival footage, photographs, and other multimedia resources relevant to each topic. • Coordinate with the ICAO focal point to obtain necessary permissions and materials. Function 2 (incl. expected results) Conceptualization and planning, achieving results such as: • Collaborate with ICAO's focal s to ensure the videos adhere to the content plan for the video series, and ensure they reflect the themes, objectives, and key messages for each video. • Ensure alignment with organizational goals and the 80th-anniversary theme. • Ensure the storyboards and scripts effectively convey the intended message and engage the target audiences. Function 3 (incl. expected results) Video production, achieving results such as: • Perform all aspects of video editing, including cutting, color grading, audio mixing, and adding visual and sound effects. • Incorporate ICAO branding elements, graphics, and animations to enhance the visual appeal and coherence of the series. • Design the videos to highlight the value of ICAO's work and ensure they can be used for the onboarding of new ICAO staff to educate others in the industry on the work ICAO does. • Maintain a project timeline and ensure all milestones are met. • Provide regular updates to ICAO’s project focal point on progress and any potential issues. • Ensure videos are optimized for various platforms and formats, including social media, web, and presentations. Function 4 (incl. expected results) Quality assurance and review, achieving results such as: • Conduct thorough reviews of each video to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality. • Incorporate feedback from ICAO stakeholders and make necessary revisions. • Ensure all videos meet the deadline for the targeted launch. Function 5 (incl. expected results) Provides graphic design support for the video series in terms of branding initiatives and promotional activities, achieving results such as: • Conceptualize, design, and implement creative graphics following campaigns’ messages while ensuring the product’s brand is accurately represented. • Manage selection of stock photography vendor selection and archiving of purchased assets. Function 6 (incl. expected results) Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Educational background: Essential A first-level university degree or equivalent in filmmaking, video editing, graphic design or multi-media design. Desirable A second-level university degree in a related field is an asset. Additional professional certificates in acquiring video production skills are assets. Professional experience and knowledge: Essential • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in video production and editing. • Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. • Experience in producing and editing videos and motion graphics. • Proven experience in conducting research for video content and gathering archival footage, photographs, and other multimedia resources. • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with stakeholders to obtain necessary permissions and materials. • Experience in video editing, including cutting, color grading, audio mixing, and adding visual and sound effects. • Familiarity with incorporating branding elements, graphics, and animations to enhance visual appeal and coherence. • Proficient in managing project timelines and meeting milestones. • Ability to optimize videos for various platforms and formats, including social media, web, and presentations. Desirable • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS. • Knowledge of WordPress CMS. • Understanding of aviation-related customer needs and requirements. • Experience in reviewing and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality in video production. • Ability to incorporate feedback from stakeholders and make necessary revisions. • Experience in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing creative graphics for branding initiatives and promotional activities. • Familiarity with selecting stock photography vendors and archiving purchased assets. Other Qualifications: • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. • Strong conceptual thinking and good time management skills.
Languages
Essential Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English. Desirable A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Additional Information
It should be noted that this consultancy is to be filled for a maximum period of two months. Please note that the monthly rate for Band B varies from CA$ 5097 to CA$ 8122.
