CIMMYT seeks to recruit a Communication Manager who will be working to lead the communication portfolio of CIMMYT Bangladesh.
This position wil be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with frequent field visits.
Duties and Responsabilities:
- Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Lead the development and implementation of communication strategies tailored to the CIMMYT Country Office in Bangladesh and various projects, including CSISA-MEA, CSISA Ukraine, TAFSSA, AMD, RUPANTAR, PARIBARTAN, and other emerging projects requiring communication support.
- Content Creation and Distribution: Lead all efforts for content creation, scheduling, and distribution across the CIMMYT Country Office, CSISA III, CSISA-MEA, CSISA R/R, CSISA Ukraine, TAFSSA, AMD, PARIBARTAN, MAC-B projects (websites, social media, blogs, and other outlets), in coordination with multiple SAS project leaders.
- High-Profile Content Creation: Lead efforts to ensure high-profile content creation in South Asia and for SAS in the region, enhancing CIMMYT communication platforms in coordination with CIMMYT’s Head of Communications.
- Editing and Proofreading: Lead efforts to complete editing and proofreading of online and print content, ensuring appropriateness for donors and public consumption.
- Multimedia Content Creation and Coaching: Lead the creation and coaching of teams involved in creating and distributing multimedia content for CIMMYT Country Office, CSISA-MEA, CSISA Ukraine, TAFSSA, AMD, PARIBARTAN, and RUPANTAR projects.
- Graphic Design Management: Lead efforts to contract and manage graphic designers involved in producing materials for CIMMYT.
- Social Media Engagement: Identify and utilize new social media tools to distribute content and engage with funders and partners.
- Media Campaigns: Lead efforts to complete monthly TAFSSA and quarterly CIMMYT-Bangladesh media campaigns.
- Branding Alignment: Support relations between CIMMYT Country Office, CSISA-MEA, CSISA Ukraine, TAFSSA, AMD, PARIBARTAN, RUPANTAR projects, ensuring branding alignment across print, broadcast, and online media.
- Join Communications and Media Opportunities: Lead efforts to improve joint communications and media opportunities with funders, partners, and private sector stakeholders in Bangladesh.
- Coordination with CGIAR Initiatives: Lead efforts to assist in coordinating communications in CGIAR Initiatives in Bangladesh, focusing on coordination with other CGIAR center communication teams in Bangladesh.
- Online Outreach Campaigns: Lead online outreach campaigns in conjunction with the CIMMYT Country Office, CSISA-MEA, CSISA Ukraine, TAFSSA, AMD, PARIBARTAN, and RUPANTAR project leaders, and CIMMYT’s Communications team.
- Strategic Communications Linkages: Take a leadership role to identify and foster opportunities to strategically link communications with other agricultural organizations on campaigns.
- Team Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of communications specialists and interns.
- Other Duties: Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.
- Hold a Master’s Degree in Communication, Media & Journalism, English language or social science.
- At least 8-10 years’ experience working in NGO/ UN/ research organization’s media and communication.
- Experienced working in USAID funded project.
- Support develop content for promotional materials including electronic newsletters, web site, social media and blog.
- Relevant professional certification or portfolio in designing and media communication.
- Basic knowledge of and skills in desktop publishing, HTML, photography and photo editing.
- Possess skills at initiating innovative ideas and judging correctly what will appeal to target audiences.
- Excellent writing ability (English and Bangla).
- Ability to collect and synthesize information from diverse sources.
- Able to manage multi-task.
- Experience with using social media: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram.
- Skills with PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator and In-design are extremely useful.
- The selected requires the following competencies: Team Leadership, Negotiation, Resolution, Client Orientation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving.
The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
