OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) was established as an integral part of UNESCO by the General Conference of UNESCO at its 29th session (November 1997). IITE is the only UNESCO Category 1 Institute that holds a global mandate for ICT in education.
Under the overall supervision of the Director of UNESCO IITE and direct supervision of the Chief of Teacher Professional Development and Networking Unit (TPDN), the incumbent shall serve as a Programme Assistant for Education and perform the following tasks in close coordination with the TPDN team:
Long Description
• Provide support to the implementation of extra-budgetary projects, focused, in particular, on the development of technology-mediated learning environment and ICT competencies of teachers and students, in the form of overall coordination of execution of planned activities, as well as preparation and monitoring of contractual arrangements in full accordance with the UNESCO Guidelines and Regulations.
• Liaise with partner organizations, institutions, and relevant stakeholders, including UN agencies, National Commissions for UNESCO, and MoE of target countries, to enable the realization of the project activities.
• Support organization and / or moderation of educational events and meetings of global outreach primarily related to innovative practices on ICT competencies of teachers, the potential of advanced digital solutions for cross-cultural learning and promotion of SDGs, smart education, and other related fields.
• Facilitate the coordination of training, courses, and workshops for meeting the professional development needs of teachers related to ICT competencies.
• Assist in collection, review and conduction of a qualitative analysis of strategic documents and publications on advanced educational practices, promoting ICT and AI tools for education including supporting principles of inclusive education and gender equality in education.
• Provide informational support to local and international initiatives on the successful use of ICT and AI in education, and develop relevant news items, announcements, website updates, and other communication materials.
• Contribute to the preparation of necessary reports on various ongoing project activities, including project reports for donors.
• Assist in the development of concept notes and project-related documents, focusing on new ICT-based approaches, EdTech solutions for schools, and innovative tools for promoting sustainability in education.
• Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor or the Director of UNESCO IITE.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Education, teacher education, social science, or related field
Work experience
• Minimum four (4) years of relevant working experience in providing technical and organizational support for project/programme management, including planning, design, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
Skills/Competencies
• Strong skills in preparation of clear and concise workplans, terms of reference for contracts, reports, letters and other background documents for project and event planning.
• Familiarity with the administrative procedures of large organizations and excellent coordination skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Strive for expediting progress towards meaningful advancement of projects and programme activities.
• Capacity to remain efficient under time and resource constraints.
• Enthusiasm and ability to encourage and maintain amicable working relations with colleagues, stakeholders, partners, and donors.
• Strong respect for human diversity and ability to work as a part of an international team in a multicultural environment.
Languages
• Fluency (oral and written) in English and Russian is required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Work experience
• Experience in the implementation of educational projects related to the use of ICT and AI in education, EdTech application and digital transformation, inclusion and equity in and through education, development of ICT competencies of teachers and students.
• Familiarity with the UNESCO Priorities, major initiatives on Equity, Inclusion, and ICT use in Education and/or previous experience with UNESCO or other organizations of the United Nations system.
BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
This is a full-time assignment under the UNESCO Service Contract modality which follows the official working hours of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education in Moscow, Russian Federation. The initial assignment will be until 31 December 2024 with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. Three months probation period will be applied to a selected candidate.
Estimated monthly salary for this position is approximately 163,570 RUB. In addition, UNESCO will make a pension contribution up to a maximum of 10% and medical insurance contribution up to a maximum of 5% of remuneration as its sole contribution upon proof of enrolment in a relevant pension and/or medical insurance schemes. Service Contract holders are also entitled to paid annual leave, sick leave and other benefits.
