INTERNSHIP
Intern, Governance Team
Location: Geneva
Purpose of the Position: Provide support to the Governance Team which manages the relationship between Board and Committee Members, and the Gavi Secretariat.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership, headquartered in Geneva, committed to saving children's lives and protecting people's health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. The Vaccine Alliance brings together developing country and donor governments, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and other private sector partners. Gavi uses innovative finance mechanisms, including co-financing by recipient countries, to secure sustainable funding and adequate supply of quality vaccines. Since 2000, Gavi has contributed to the immunisation of nearly 1 billion children and the prevention of more than 16.2 million future deaths.
BACKGROUND
Gavi’s Governance Team is looking for an intern to assist the Governance team with the organisation and delivery of Gavi Board and Committee meetings, as well as strategic projects. They will work closely with the Director, Governance, and other team members, focusing on the delivery of the Gavi Board and Committee workplan.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support for day-to-day governance management of Gavi Board Committees.
- Preparation of materials and minute writing for meetings of governing bodies.
- Assist the Director of Governance by conducting desk research and preparing briefings on Board-related matters.
- Draft official correspondence and other communications with Board and committee members and support their effective engagement in governance meetings.
- Support preparations for the Gavi Board Meeting in December.
- Support the Implementing Country workstream by collaborating with the Special Advisers Network and the Implementing Country Caucus.
- Support the Governance Team in delivering strategic governance projects.
- Provide logistical support to the team for meetings of governance bodies.
- Other support as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Language:
·Written and spoken fluency in English.
·Other languages (particularly French) a plus.
Academic:
·Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic qualification.
Skills/Competencies:
·Strong interpersonal skills and modelling of positive team behaviours that foster teamwork and trust.
·Highly organized with a systematic approach to managing schedules, tasks, and resources.
·Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to write clear, concise minutes, reports, or correspondence.
·Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with tight timelines while maintaining a balanced perspective.
·Interest in corporate governance, public-private partnerships, international relations including policy, health or immunisation is an asset.
