Regional Programme Coordinator & Head of Programme oPT*

in Amman

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 9 months. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Amman, Jordan.

As Regional Programme Coordinator and Head of Programme for oPT you will play a crucial role in transforming lives across the region. With your dynamic leadership and your passion for making a difference you will make a difference in emergency and development programs in oPT. As our Regional Programme Coordinator (50% of your working time), you'll spearhead grant management, stakeholder coordination, and capacity building to ensure that our regional programs are both cohesive and impactful. In your role as Head of Programme oPT (50%), you'll be at the forefront of emergency program leadership, strategic crisis management, and quality assurance. You'll guide our Gaza and West Bank response efforts, maintain high standards, and strengthen partnerships to address humanitarian needs effectively.

Your responsibilities

Regional Programme Coordinator:

  • Grant Management: Collaborate with COs Programme Departments to ensure compliance with donor and WHH grant requirements. Oversee reporting, review documentation, and support project cycle management
  • Regional Integration: Develop and implement a unified regional program with a cohesive logframe. Align current projects and strategies to achieve consistent outcomes
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Build and sustain strong relationships with donors, partners, and field teams to enhance communication and collaboration
  • Capacity Building: Enhance regional and country team skills in project cycle management through targeted training and learning sessions, focusing on best practices and MEAL aspects

Head of Programme oPT:

  • Emergency Program Leadership: Direct the creation and execution of emergency programs in oPT, ensuring adherence to Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards
  • Strategic Crisis Leadership: Guide the strategic direction of emergency programs to ensure feasibility, sustainability, and effectiveness
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards by integrating M&E feedback into program adjustments and safeguarding against aid diversion
  • Representation: Engage with decision-makers and stakeholders to influence humanitarian responses and strengthen collaboration with other actors
  • Program Development & Management: Set up emergency surveillance, conduct rapid needs assessments, draft contingency plans, and identify funding opportunities

Your profile

  • A University degree in International Development, Emergency Management, or a related field is essential
  • A minimum of 5 years in emergency program management or related roles, with a preference for experience in operations start-up in the Middle East
  • Maintain a high degree of cultural sensitivity, particularly in emergency contexts
  • Proven expertise in managing consortium programming and large-scale emergency grants, ideally funded by GFFO or other humanitarian institutional donors
  • Demonstrate leadership in high-pressure, rapidly changing scenarios
  • Exhibit quick thinking and strategic flexibility in response to unfolding emergencies
  • Resilience: Maintain high performance under stress and uncertainty
  • Engage actively in establishing operations in the nascent Amman office
  • Willingness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's Project countries
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is highly desirable
