ABOUT THE JOB

The Economic Recovery Officer is expected to maintain close cooperation with the targeted local communities and to be able to mobilize to take active part in planning of activities. Under the direct supervision of the Economic recovery team leader, the Economic Recovery Officer is overall responsible to ensure that the implementation of DRC Afghanistan’s economic recovery program, through CfW, MSMEs, Asset replacement, SHG & other climate adaptive activities in the assigned area of responsibility is guided in accordance with approved methodologies and tools and are in line with DRC and donor policies and guidelines. Besides, she will be responsible for regularly sharing and updating EcRec. information with the EcRec. TL/manager in the form of regular briefings. The Economic recovery officer will be working in cooperation with DRC’s protection, emergency & HDP teams and in collaboration with local authorities and communities. In addition, she will be tasked of reporting and when requested engaged in monitoring, evaluation and learning activities

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Economic Recovery team leader and based on technical advice and inputs of the Economic Recovery manager the Economic Recovery officer is responsible for:
  • Coordinating, leading and conducting rapid sectorial needs and market assessments in the targeted locations.
  • Participate in beneficiary selection processes and assessment with the consideration of MSME (value chains), cash for work, Asset restoration and other principal programing criteria and SOPs.
  • Responsible for preparation of business development training manuals, materials and BoQs.
  • Provide timely business development training to selected small businesses owners and women/men led businesses.
  • Provide technical support to the established MSMEs and Self-Help groups-SHG.
  • Beining focal point for conducting all female relevant technical activities at the field level.
  • Will be responsible for conducting coordination with female beneficiaries at the community level.
  • Supporting EcRec. team during exposure visits and exhibitions on female engagements.
  • Provide support to EcRec team in preparation of viable business plan for beneficiaries.
  • Conduct regular follow up, support coaching and mentoring to the supported beneficiaries.
  • Coordinating and conducting field distributions (Cash) in accordance with agreed criteria and guidelines.
  • Produce basic reports on needs assessments and distributions.
  • Prepare detailed activity implementation plans for the activities:
  • Provide regular report and feedback on the status and effectiveness of the activities to the economic recovery team leader.
  • Manage the implementation in accordance with the implementation plan and overall project goals and objectives.
  • Conduct trainings, awareness sessions and any other activities in the field as part of the implementation plan.
  • Ensures liaison with the communities, maintaining links with community elders, engaging consistently with beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders,
  • Any other required tasks assigned by line manager

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

 

  • 2-3 years of experience in economic recovery programing and livelihood programing with INGOs/NGOs or the UN.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Problem-solver who takes initiative to provide solutions
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative assessment and training delivery is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in managing/ handling data with familiarity with KOBO and other online data collection tools. 
  • Good communication skills in English and fluency in Dari and Pashto languages.
  • Commitment to the mission and the core values of Danish Refugee Council-DRC.
  • Willing to stay in field locations and travel in all DRC coverage areas.

Education/qualifications:

  • Degree from well recognize university, Business Administration, political science, Agriculture and/or other relevant disciplines.
