The Scope
Are you keen to interact with a variety of stakeholders and users addressing their day-to-day information needs, able to explain also complex technical matters to both highly and less proficient audiences, and have gained already some understanding about FSC certification in the area of Chain of Custody (material flow) and Controlled Wood (due diligence systems)? If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team at FSC based in Bonn, Germany, as an Enquiry Manager.
You will be in charge to guide users and stakeholders of our certification system towards relevant information about FSC requirements in our technical framework, coordinate internally the development of formal interpretations for publication, and be a key resource to respond in particular to enquiries related to our certification solutions in relation to regulatory instruments.

Main Roles & Responsibilities
- To manage technical enquiries and formal interpretation requests in relation to Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood requirements, with a focus on normative adaptations towards regulatory instruments, such as the FSC Regulatory Module and associated normative documents, to ensure their consistent implementation by certificate holders and certification bodies.
- To manage the development, maintenance, review and revision of FSC certification and accreditation requirements, including, for example:
- Editorial reviewing and drafting of such requirements.
- Researching of technical issues to be covered by such requirements.
- Coordinating and facilitating working groups and other technical meetings.
- Preparation, coordination, and monitoring of pilot, field and desk tests.
- To manage communication and education, including, for example:
- Developing communications, guidance and training materials to facilitate the consistent implementation of FSC requirements.
- Managing website content and related communications.
- To manage project development and administration:
- Conceptualizing projects and feasibility studies.
- Providing support in fundraising and reporting to donors.
- To ensure administration and handling of information and interpretation requests related to FSC requirements.
- To represent FSC externally on technical and other fora.
- To build and maintain effective contacts and good relations with stakeholders affected by relevant FSC requirements.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the formal supervisor.
Your profile

Education and Training:
- University or technical college degree in a relevant field (e.g. forestry, wood technology) or equivalent.
- Training in FSC certification, project management, communications, and/or auditing are assets.

Working Experience, Style and Skills:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following: multi-stakeholder standards development processes; the forest sector; certification and auditing, or corporate environmental responsibility programs, supply chain management, due diligence systems.
- Experience in writing, reviewing, revising, and/or editing technical documents.
- Proven ability to plan and organize work (e.g., by relevant project management experience).
- Good time management skills: Ability to perform well while handling simultaneously a number of ongoing project tasks.
- Strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solution and service-oriented attitude to work.

Language & Communication Skills:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Spanish is a plus.
- French is a plus.

Digital Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:
- Standard software packages (MS Office).
- Content Management Systems is a plus.

The Fine Print
- Location: Bonn, Germany.
- Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
- Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
