Overview
USAID’s Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) award is a USAID-funded global award, that works in tandem with country governments and local nongovernmental organizations to provide targeted technical and capacity strengthening assistance and contribute to the global technical leadership and policy dialogue on improving measurable outcomes for maternal, reproductive, newborn and child health, and voluntary family planning. MCGL in Jordan seeks a Communications & Knowledge Management (CKM) Specialist for a USAID family planning program in Jordan. The MCGL Jordan program will provide support to the USAID/Jordan-funded Government to Government Partnership for Health in Family Planning (PHFP) program, led by the Ministry of Health (MOH), with aims to promote and provide quality family planning services to the population of Jordan.
The Communication and Knowledge Management (CKM) Specialist will support in practical and immediate communication and knowledge-sharing activities. The specialist will work closely with the MOH, MCGL, and other stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and enhance the visibility of the project’s activities. This role involves the management of knowledge repositories, coordination of internal and external communication efforts, and capacity building in knowledge sharing and management. The CKM Specialist will report to the MCGL Technical Director and will work closely with other MCGL Technical Advisors and Specialists.
Responsibilities
Communication and Knowledge Management:
Information Dissemination:
- Create and regularly update communication materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, reports, and success stories to share project updates and health messages with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, USAID, and MCGL Global Team.
- Manage project communication materials across various platforms, ensuring consistent messaging that adheres to USAID guidelines, including websites, social media, and print materials.
Content Development and Documentation:
- Capture and document success stories and lessons learned from project activities and disseminate them through appropriate channels.
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, presentations, and communication briefs for stakeholders, ensuring compliance with USAID reporting standards.
Knowledge Repositories
- Develop and maintain simple, well-organized knowledge repositories, ensuring project data, reports, and key documents are easily accessible for sharing with stakeholders.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange by organizing debriefing sessions after key activities and capturing insights for continuous learning.
Capacity Building:
Hands-On Training
- Build the communication and documentation capacity of MOH staff by providing hands-on support in developing communication materials and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Support MOH in packaging communication materials and aligning them with project objectives and USAID requirements.
Workshops and Training
- Organize workshops and practical knowledge-sharing activities such as webinars and brown-bag sessions to foster a culture of continuous learning within the project and MOH.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Coordination and Collaboration
- Serve as the focal point for communication between the project, MOH, USAID, and other partners to ensure the efficient flow of information and alignment of messages.
Media and Partner Relations
- Promote collaboration with media outlets, partners, and communication platforms to raise the project’s profile and support MOH activities, including managing media engagements and press relations.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Activity Tracking
- Monitor communication and knowledge management activities, providing regular updates and reports on progress to project stakeholders.
- Contribute to project reporting by highlighting key achievements, lessons learned, and challenges related to communication and knowledge-sharing efforts.
New Program Development:
- Identify opportunities to expand communication and knowledge-sharing efforts in line with MOH priorities and explore innovative health communication interventions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Knowledge Management, Public Health, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- 6-7 years of experience in communication and knowledge management, preferably within public health (MOH in specific will add value) or international development contexts.
- Proven ability to manage communication materials and knowledge repositories in a USAID-funded project environment.
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and communication materials.
- Familiarity with web-based and social media communication channels, as well as print media.
- Experience in training and capacity building within the context of communication and knowledge management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with donors, government officials, and international organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge management tools, and online collaboration platforms.
- Experience working and knowledge of Jordan’s health system and political context is preferred.
