UNHCR Private Sector Partnership Services is a fast-growing global section with offices in 20 countries across the world. PSP France is an emerging fundraising country and has been achieving outstanding results since opening in 2013. PSP France is diversifying fundraising channels and will expand Individual Giving activities - with Digital fundraising becoming a priority stream of income.
Since 2015 in France, UNHCR supporters and donor’s portfolio have significantly grown and PSP France aims to reinforce its private sector communication strategy and assets to increase brand equity, engage with new audience and communicate timely and accurate information with general public.
Our current PSP Individual Giving Associate (Digital) is going on maternity leave, and we are looking for a maternity replacement. The position, based in Paris, offers a unique opportunity to work within the PSP Europe team dedicated to raise funds and establish partnerships for UNHCR with the private sector in Europe.
Organizational context
The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services work in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels.
The position will be part of UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships Unit, which sits within the Department of External Relations (DER) responsible for mobilizing resources to enable UNHCR’s refugee response programming around the world.
The position
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and results driven team player, who is able to work independently as well, with a strong interest in fundraising.
This position will sit within UNHCR’s Individual Giving (IG) team in France, which aims to raise funds from individuals in France to support UNHCR’s work. The incumbent will work transversally with the PSP France team especially the Digital engagement and Philanthropy / middle donor program to maximize lifetime value of respective donor segments.
The maternity replacement will be responsible for delivering fundraising digital campaigns and email, especially but not only to support UNHCR / Acquisition and PSP donor retention programs.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the PSP Officer (France), the PSP Individual Giving Associate (Digital) will perform the following responsibilities:
General
• Contribute to the creation of annual plans for acquisition and donor development programs (i.e. forecasts of costs and expenses, income projections, donor figures, etc.);
• With close collaboration with supervisor contribute to the development of detailed annual plan for the IG programs;
• Develop, manage and improve donor servicing and communications to provide a best in class donor care with best practice standards (welcome, information, thank you letters, donor monthly newsletter, in-bound and out-bound donor emails and calls, complaints, etc.);
• Work with marketing agencies to develop contact strategies and donor journeys for different segments of the database using a variety of channels including telemarketing, digital and mail;
• Implementation of the National Growth Fund related to IG programs to secure funding to increase the and diversify donor base;
• Management of the CRM lead;
Donor Acquisition
• Contribute to the development of the fundraising strategies and products for diverse individual fundraising activities that serve to recruit and retain loyal individual donors;
• Cooperate closely with digital team to secure optimal timing and approach for conversion of supporters’ lists into donors;
• Investigate opportunities for lead generation and donors’ acquisition;
• Support adaptation of contents as well as implementation of tests aimed to improve response;
• Manage relations with partners, contractors and suppliers to implement FR programs;
• Contribute to develop and enhance market knowledge and analyze the competitive environment to monitor PSP performance and make recommendation to management;
• Develop and implement a welcome program for newly recruited monthly donors and one-time donors;
• Assist in ensuring that donor acquisition income targets are achieved in a cost-effective manner;
Donor Retention and Development
• Support in the implementation of program improvement as defined in the UNHCR Donor Development Strategy to strengthen individual giving fundraising programs;
• Target/segment based on donor insights, behavior, interactions and gifts history;
• Keep up-to-date with giving techniques and strategies to increase or maintain donations from multiple donors;
• Execute monthly operations of recapturing by emails/mails, thank-you to donors;
• Improve income of regular committed individual donors, optimizing opportunities through data segmentation, supporter journey enhancement, new fundraising products, and optimization of current programs;
• Develop and implement a retention & upgrade program for existing monthly donors and one-time donors;
• Foster a donor centric culture and communication;
• Perform other duties, as required.
Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required
The ideal candidate will be required to have:
• Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) preferably with UNESCO accredited university degree in private sector fundraising, sales, client/donor communication, marketing or journalism or other related field.;
• Minimum 3 years of previous job experience with secondary education / high school or minimum 2 years of previous job experience with Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree;
• Proven experience working in donor retention/ development programs;
• Experience in coordination and supervision of fundraising campaigns in profit or non-profit industry;
• Experience in fundraising related databases and software;
• Experience in data analysis and segmentation.
Desirable qualifications and professional experience required
• Experience with the non-profit sector;
• Experience in supervising database migration and setting up a Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system;
• Experience in project management;
• Experience in managing agencies/vendors/clients;
• Experience in Private Sector Fundraising;
• Experience in fundraising Face2Face, digital, emergency, DRTV, e-Fundraising;
• Experience with online communications, web-based marketing and fundraising contents.
Key Competencies
• Fluency in French and English (oral written, comprehension) is mandatory;

Location
The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCR’s office in Paris, France.
Conditions
The position is associated with a temporary contract (as maternity replacement capacity), valid until end of the year, with further extension until end of July 2025. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
The salary is in line with the local UN GS Salary scale.
