Functional Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following duties:  1. Strengthen OSESGY’s social media presence and engagement on digital platforms and implement digital campaigns of the Office: 

  • Develop digital media content for OSESGY’s social media platforms, including  “X” (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Telegram, and YouTube.

  • Develop, implement, and analyze social media campaigns.

  • Monitor and analyze media and social media coverage.

  • Promote OSESGY’s social media products.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a social media strategy; update and maintain the Mission’s social media accounts. 

  • Prepare, maintain, and update the web page and social media accounts, drafting and editing relevant content in English and Arabic. 

  • Identify and draft materials related to the inclusion file on appropriate digital and social media platforms, research information sources, and cross-check with author offices.; 

  • Monitor social media products and media coverage relevant to the work of OSESGY.


2. Supports the development and implementation of the OSESGY’s communication strategy: 
  • Respond to information requests and inquiries; process and draft response lines; finalize correspondence and other communications; 

  • Produces communication materials and services; evaluates  the result and impact of these products, provides feedback on the perception of the OSESGY at the national and international levels. 

  • Review, evaluate the credibility of information, and ensure quality control of the daily morning press review, including checking the information source, data, and the authenticity of images, and cross-referencing. 

  • Assists in the digital dissemination of communication products; gathers materials of interest to the work of the OSESGY, including the Peace Support Project or related projects; coordinates with partners to amplify key messages. 


3. Translates OSESGY’s communication materials from English to Arabic and vice versa, as requested, ensuring accuracy and contextual appropriateness.

4. Data visualization, design, and branding management:
  • Leads on design, visual identity, and branding activities

  • Researches a broad spectrum of information sources; compiles and presents information for use in the preparation and production of communication products/services. 

  • Identifies and analyses opportunities for data visualization 

  • Develops and produces visual data in timelines, infographics, quote cards, etc. 

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education -
  • Advanced University Degree (Master's or equivalent degree) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related fields.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.  


Work Experience:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related areas is required. 
  • Experience in digital media campaigns, creating visual content and graphic design  is  required.
  • Experience in data visualization and representing data in a visual context is desirable.


Languages -
  •  English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
  • For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required.
