Finance Expert*

in Amman, Jordan

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 9 months with very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be based in Amman, Jordan

As Finance Expert you will be instrumental in managing financial operations for emergency programming in oPT and the surrounding regiont  (as relevant). Your primary goal is to ensure the effective implementation of financial management standards across emergency programs, facilitating efficient resource allocation and compliance with both internal and donor requirements.

Your responsibilities

  • Emergency Budget Management: Develop and manage emergency program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated promptly and effectively to meet immediate needs
  • Grant and Funding Oversight: Supervise the financial aspects of grants and emergency funding, including budgeting, reporting, and adherence to donor regulations
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to support emergency response activities, ensuring timely and transparent disbursement of funds
  • Capacity Building: Provide training and support to local and international partners (Alliance 2015) on financial management practices, enhancing their ability to manage and report on funds
  • Financial Oversight: Implement rigorous financial oversight mechanisms to ensure proper use of funds, compliance with internal and donor regulations, and accurate financial reporting
  • Donor Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial reports for donors, including monthly, quarterly, and annual updates, as well as budget vs. actual reports, in collaboration with the Heads of Projects

Your profile

  • University or College degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other relevant field
  • 2-5 years of professional experience, particularly in emergency programming in the global South
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency financial planning, grant management, and cash flow oversight
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and financial oversight skills
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging environment, with excellent intercultural communication and teamwork capabilities
  • Proficiency in navigating culturally and politically sensitive environments and managing the dynamic demands of emergency programming
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic and/or French are assets
