DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams.
About the job
The overall purpose of the role is to seeking diligent and detail-oriented Data Collectors to join DRC Lebanon Team. The overall purpose of the role is to support protection monitoring officer in collecting quantitative and qualitative data in Wadi Khaled area through implementation of a set of tools including but not limited to focus group discussions, key informant interview, individual surveys and more. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of activities and projects.
- Data Collection: conduct interviews to gather data through surveys, interviews, and observations. Ensure data is collected in accordance with established protocols and methodologies.
- Data Entry and Management: accurately enter collected data into databases and spreadsheets. Maintain organized records of all data collection activities. Perform regular data quality checks to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies.
- Liaise with the Accountability Officer: ensure that any complaints or issues raised by respondents during data collection are addressed appropriately and promptly shared with the Accountability Officer for proper follow-up.
- Support in analysis of Collected Data as deemed necessary
- Support the mainstreaming of protection principles to DRC’s program, including partners and local community.
- Ensure the proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) during protection activities (attendance sheets, permission slips, consent, referrals etc.);
- Use IM tools and online platforms for timely and accurate data entry of activities. In collaboration with IM colleagues, make sure data is properly entered, accurate and complete, to ensure proper analysis of the data.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect the following:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required/Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., social sciences, statistics, data science) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in protection monitoring, community-based protection, including community engagement, outreach, awareness raising, and safe identification and referrals;
- Good understanding of protection and do no harm principles;
- Good contextual understanding and knowledge of protection environment in area of implementation;
- Good understanding of data collection methods;
- Experience working with diverse communities in various settings;
- Good understanding of key protection issues in the sensitivity of the situation in Wadi khaled;
- Knowledge of and commitment to principles of dealing with disclosure, confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion;
- Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility;
- Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment with facilitation skills
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel);
- Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other data collection tools (i.e.: Kobotoolbox).
Desirable
- Fluency in Arabic
- Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is desirable
