Overview of position |
Under the overall supervision of DTM visualization and Reporting Officer and direct supervision of the DTM Reporting Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all functions relating to the production of DTM information products. The successful candidate will also be responsible to provide informal translation of DTM materials, including reports, tools, training materials, presentations, and other documents as required. |
Role objectives |
Core Functions / Responsibilities: Support in drafting and producing all DTM products (Weekly Flow Monitoring Snapshots, Quarterly Flow Monitoring reports, and other ad hoc and unique products), including helping produce narrative drafts, assisting in research, copy editing, datamerge, and providing input on the Afghanistan context. Based on instructions, prepare infographics, graphs and tables to be included in reports and updates. Conduct research of information, data and various reports prepared by humanitarian clusters and other relevant humanitarian partners to understand and participate in the analysis of developments as they relate to the programme. Liaise with Information Management and Operations colleagues to maintain proper communication on key workstreams, as well as to verify data and information from enumerators. Contribute to the regular dissemination of DTM products and data, including by email, on the DTM website, and through presentations with relevant stakeholders. Support non-official translation of documents to produce accurate and complete versions in English, Dari and Pashto, using the most appropriate terminology and commonly accepted or established equivalents of professional, scientific or technical concepts and terms. Support in enumerator trainings in both Dari and Pashto, including new activities and refresher trainings, by providing in depth reviews of the content of DTM survey materials and survey simulations. Assist the DTM Reporting Officer with programme-level reporting, including internal reports, unit updates, and ad hoc information sharing with partners. Support the maintaince of DTM internal records by monitoring the proper archival and organization of datasets, narrative drafts, and other relevant material. Perform other such duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, migration studies, anthropology, or a related discipline (e.g., humanitarian affairs, development studies, political science, international relations, or a related field) with four (4) years of relevant professional experience. Or Master degree in social sciences, migration studies, anthropology, or a related discipline (e.g., humanitarian affairs, development studies, political science, international relations, or a related field) with two (2) years of relevant professional experience. .
Excellent research, writing, communication, and analytical skills; including sharp attention to detail and ability to juggle competing work streams
Experience ·Work experience in primary research and reporting ·Experience in copy-editing ·Two or more years of experience supporting non-official translations in English/Dari/Pashto is an advantage. ·Prior experience working at international agencies (UN Agencies, International Organizations, and International Specialized NGOs) is an advantage. ·Knowledge of DTM reporting is an advantage SKILLS ·Report writing. ·Data analysis using excel. ·Data visualizations. ·Effective Communication ·Proven knowledge of migration-related issues particularly regarding Afghanistan ·Experience in creating and editing documents in Adobe InDesign (in English, Dari, and Pashto).
