1. Coordinate and support the development of technical cooperation projects relating to the enhancement of port and maritime security, implementation of ISPS Code and other unlawful activities at sea and in ports.
2. Organize and implement technical co-operation activities and in particular implementation of the activities under the EU funded projects on Port Security and the Global Maritime Security Programme.
3. In close collaboration with the Project Officers (Training and Budget) for both EU funded Port Security Projects, coordinate activities, recruitment of consultants and liaise with donor and Implementing Partners on implementation and inputs for the Technical and Steering Committees of the projects.
4. Serve as a focal point for matters related to the implementation of the IMO maritime security measures, including liaison with Member States and regional agencies to ensure efficiency of the projects and monitor alignment with other UN or relevant partners’ initiatives.
5. Develop and review training material, and deliver workshops and seminars related to enhancing implementation of maritime security, the ISPS Code and security aspects of the FAL Convention and other related IMO instruments.
6. Prepare, establish and maintain databases relating to maritime security and unlawful activities at sea and ports.
7. Represent the Organization at external meetings, and prepare and present submissions, lectures and technical papers. Prepare and coordinate meetings, including drafting and editing documents and report for such meetings.
8. Assist in drafting and preparing other documents, reports and communications related to the technical cooperation activities of the section, as may be required in connection with the work of the section.
9. Support the Head, Maritime security section, on seeking potential contributions to existing and new initiatives to the relevant Maritime Security Trust Funds and bilateral contributions. Initiate development of concept papers, logframes, workplan and budget for new proposals.
