Our team and mission
This position is based at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) - Near Cologne, Germany
The Space Training Team is responsible for the training of European, International Partner (NASA, ROSCOSMOS, JAXA, Canadian Space Agency) and other astronauts about the systems and payloads (experiments) of the Columbus European Laboratory. In addition, the Space Training Team conducts specialist training in Robotics and Space Analogues. In addition to astronauts, we also train the Ground Support Personnel, or communicators, who support the operation of systems and payloads on board the International Space Station (ISS).

Topic of the internship: Video and Multimedia Production
We are looking for talented, enthusiastic interns with great multimedia skills (video, 2D and 3D graphics, design) to be involved in exciting projects in the Space Training Team. You might be involved in making videos that will be watched by astronauts on board the International Space Station or preparing media for training material for astronauts and the ground-based communicators who support them. There is always a new challenge, and new opportunities. Are you ready for them?
Your tasks might include filming and editing material for production of public outreach and space training videos, as well as developing assorted multimedia (eg. infographics, illustrations, animations) for use in videos, PowerPoint slides, E-Learning and other purposes.

Education
You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.
Additional requirements
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
An interest in human spaceflight would be an advantage but is not essential as you will develop this! Also advantageous would be an interest or background in dealing with technical information and science communication, but again, not essential as we will help you. Above all you must be enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated.
Essential skills:
- Proficient in using Adobe CC (especially Premiere) or equivalent;
- Good camera skills;
- All around solid multimedia/design skills.
Helpful:
- Experience in creating infographics and working with technical/scientific information;
- An understanding or experience of online learning and Learning Management Systems and instructional theories;
- Experience with rapid authoring tools (e.g. Captivate, Articulate).
