Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
To carry out surveys, studies on the memory of agrarian conflicts and resistances historically built by the peoples of the countryside, forests and waters with a view to identifying the different experiences and strategies of social struggles for the affirmation of the social function of the land and their contributions to the preservation of Brazilian socio-biodiversity.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Conduct bibliographic research and data and information surveys in institutional documents and tools;
• Prepare reports and data spreadsheets, in a format to be specified, relevant to the activities of this Term of Reference;
• To define, together with the supervision of the assignment, which states should be selected as the object of analysis in each of the geographic regions;
• Be present in meetings with representatives of the proposing entities, present the partial and final results of the products, upon demand of DEMCA/MDA and provide the requested information and clarifications;
• Participate in workshops and meetings relevant to the preparation of consulting products, upon demand of DEMCA/SE/MDA;
• Provide technical support and monitor the actions developed on the subject of consulting with the agencies involved;
• Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to this Term of Reference;
• To systematize the material produced in the Seminar Speaks of the Earth;
• Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in this Term of Reference
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING\:
Minimum Requirements
• University Degree in Applied Human or Social Sciences, according to the CAPES table of areas of knowledge.
• Minimum professional experience of 08 (eight) years in human rights, or activities related to combating violence against family farmers, landless, indigenous, quilombolas and/or other traditional peoples and communities, or Specialization and 05 years of experience, or Master's degree and 03 years of experience, or Doctorate and 02 years of experience
• Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese;
• National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit
