Org. Setting and Reporting
These positions are located within the Safety and Security Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba and Kuajok. The incumbent will report to the supervisor of the Unit.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Assists in reviewing the logistic requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills and other security exercise. • Assist the Security Officers in the Security Operation Branch with the preparation of Security related Documents in including Security Plans, MORSS, MOSS, regular reports and other reports related to Security activities as well as providing the operations Branch units with the administrative assistance. • Assists with date consolidation and dissemination of relevant Security Information required for the analysis of the Security Situation by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) and Security Officers. • Assists in the assessment of accessible areas and assists in the coordination of a 24-hour • Conducts routine physical security assessments of UN facilities. • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Security operations of the unit. • Maintains continuing lines of communication with local security force and other UN or non-UN stake holders. • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of security policies and procedures in close coordination with the supervisor of the unit. • Provides Support during the Implementation of Security plan under the direction of chief Security Officer. • Provides general administrative support services to assist the Security Officers to fulfill their duties vis-a-vis staff members and their dependents. • Provides support during the intervention in case of security incident. • Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities, • Provides security orientation to newly assigned staff members, as well as conducting security briefings as required. • Perform other duties as required

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Job - Specific Qualification
A valid driving license is required.
Work Experience
•A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in Security or related areas such as Police and Military experience is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Have good computer skills is required Experience working with UN/NGO or other international bodies is desirable
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. However, for the posts advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other languages spoken in South Sudan is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
