Context

UNFPA has a history of more than 40 years in Myanmar. Since 2002, UNFPA adopted a programmatic approach to support comprehensive programming on reproductive health and rights, population and data, youth, gender equality and gender-based violence (GBV). The UNV will support Outcome 3 of the current 4th country programme (2018-2025), which is “strengthened capacities to formulate and implement multi-sectoral rights-based policies and interventions that prevent and mitigate the impact of gender-based violence, especially among the marginalized, the vulnerable and young people” but also ensure gender/GBV mainstreaming in other programmatic areas. To achieve this, the UNV will provide technical, operational and coordination support to UNFPA Gender/GBV programme and also GBV sub-cluster/working groups and Gender in Humanitarian Action working group which UNFPA is leading/co-leading.

Depending on the programme needs and security situation, mission travel to UNFPA office locations (such as, Nay Pyi Taw, Myitkyina in Kachin State, Taunggyi in Shan State, Hpa-an in Kayin State) may be requested.
