Mission and objectives
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programmes, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favouritism.
Context
UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential.
The Information Management Assistant will support the Children and Armed Conflict team within the Child Protection section, to monitor, report and analyse trends of grave violations against children. The assignment supports the Research Officer with information management, particularly tasks related to documenting and triangulating the high volume of reported grave violation incidents and conflict violence impacting children, in the current armed conflict and resulting humanitarian crisis. The assignment reinforces UNICEF’s ongoing work in support of UN-mandated monitoring, verification and reporting of grave violations against children; and UNICEF’s evidence generation and analysis of the impact of conflict related violence on children to inform humanitarian programming and advocacy.
