Functional Responsibilities
Responsibilities include supporting the Senior Programme Manager and team to:

Data analysis and report development
- Develop and support the dissemination of self-assessment surveys to collect qualitative and quantitative data on country progress towards programme milestones.
- Support the collection and analysis of country data to identify high-level trends, strengths, and solutions that are customized to country needs.
- Track and maintain records of national progress to achieve project components and CBD planning and reporting requirements.
- Track and maintain records of programme delivery, including progress towards deliverables and indicators.
- Assist the development of reports showcasing the implementation of the programme, including the development of charts, tables, graphs, and presentations upon request.
- Assist the design and implementation of a comprehensive M&E framework for the project, aligning with donor and UNOPS standards.
- Assist in development of tools, templates, and methodologies for data collection, ensuring they meet the project’s monitoring needs.
- Review and update the M&E system regularly, ensuring it reflects evolving project goals and implementation strategies.
- Provide guidance to countries in aligning their national biodiversity strategies with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
- Assist countries in identifying gaps and opportunities in their biodiversity action plans to improve implementation efficiency.
- Support the preparation and submission of high-quality reports to the CBD Secretariat, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and timelines.
- Coordinate targeted training sessions or workshops to strengthen national capacities for project implementation and reporting.
- Prepare periodic M&E reports on project progress, including analysis of results and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Support the preparation of donor and stakeholder reports, ensuring they reflect the monitoring and evaluation findings.
- Document lessons learned and best practices, ensuring they are shared with stakeholders for improved project outcomes.
The contractor will be supervised by the Senior Project Manager, and contractor and supervisor will determine progress and the next step in mutual communication.

- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in anthropology, sociology, sustainable development, environmental management/sciences, international relations, conservation biology/ecology geography, natural resource management, or in a field related to the post description with no relevant experience is desirable; OR
- A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) preferably in anthropology, sociology, sustainable development, environmental management/sciences, international relations, conservation biology/ecology geography, natural resource management, or in a field related to the post description with two (2) years of relevant experience is required.
- Relevant experience is defined as work or academic experience, preferably in any of the following topics at a conceptual or practical level: international environmental policy, natural resource management, project management, grants management, biodiversity/climate change, human/civil/Indigenous/women’s rights, social entrepreneurship/impact investing, local economic development, and/or civil society engagement and education.
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required.
- Fluency in a second official UN language is desired.
