Mission and objectives
UNDP works with the Government and people of Pakistan to develop local solutions to development challenges. In an evolving development context, we support Pakistan’s efforts to build a more equitable, prosperous, peaceful and resilient society, and to achieve its SDGs and COP25 targets. UNDP promotes transformational change by fostering strategic partnerships with national counterparts in the federal, provincial and regional governments, civil society, the private sector and the local and international community. UNDP supports transformational change by providing technical assistance focusing on developing capacity within national and local authorities, providing solutions with strong monitoring and evaluation tools, and delivering programmes with maximum efficiency, transparency and accountability.
UNDP’s ultimate goal is to improve the lives of the people of Pakistan through keeping people out of poverty; governance for peaceful, just and inclusive societies; crisis prevention and increased resilience; nature-based solutions for development; clean affordable energy; and women's empowerment and gender equality.

Context
The UNV will work under direct supervision and overall guidance of the National Project Manager (NPM). Project Support Coordinator (PSO) will be responsible for providing support in timely collection and ensuring quality of data, results, and achievements against the project indicators.
Project Description:
The Government of Pakistan has recognized the threat from GLOFs in its National Climate Change Policy and in its National Determined Contribution to monitor changes in glacier volumes and related GLOFs. To be able to strengthen capacities of vulnerable communities to address the GLOF issue urgently in the scale that is needed, the Government of Pakistan has secured GCF resources to upscale ongoing initiatives on early warning systems and small, locally sourced infrastructure to protect communities from GLOF risks under the GLOF II project. The scaled interventions proposed by this project will expand coverage from two districts to fifteen districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. The project will reduce vulnerability of communities’ land and water resources by implementing climate- resilient agricultural practices that contribute to food security, considering needs of the local population and promoting gender equality, benefiting over 696,342 people.
UNDP GLOF-II project intends to hire services of a UNV for procurement related activities. For the efficient and smooth implementation of procurement processes, UNV will be required to carry out coordination among Project Management Unit, GLOF-II project implementing units, UNDP Country Office and MoCC (Ministry of Climate Change) (if/when needed).
