CTG staff and support humanitarian projects in fragile and conflict-affected countries around the world, providing a rapid and cost-effective service for development and humanitarian missions. With past performance in 17 countries – from the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia, we have placed more than 20,000 staff all over the world since operations began in 2006.

CTG recruits, deploys and manages the right people with the right skills to implement humanitarian and development projects, from cleaners to obstetricians, and mechanics to infection specialists, we’re skilled in emergency response to crises such as the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Key to successful project delivery is the ability to mobilise at speed; CTG can source and deploy anyone, anywhere, in less than 2 weeks and have done so in 48 hours on a number of occasions.

Overview of position

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at CTG, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our global operations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic, multi-regional organization, driving operational excellence, innovation, and growth in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

You will be a key member of the Executive Committee (ExCom), with decision-making authority and accountability for delivering exceptional client services, optimizing operational efficiency, and ensuring the safety and success of our teams on the ground. Your leadership will directly impact CTG’s ability to achieve its mission, expand its reach, and deliver sustainable, high-impact solutions in complex humanitarian and development contexts.

Role objectives

Strategy Development & Execution:  

  • Lead transformative change initiatives and drive innovation to adapt to dynamic market trends, customer needs, and technological advancements, ensuring CTG stays ahead of the curve and capitalizes on emerging opportunities. 
  • Partner with the Executive Committee (ExCom) to craft and execute cutting-edge business and operational strategies that align with CTG’s vision, turning bold ideas into actionable plans that deliver results.
  • Foster seamless collaboration across regional, country, and HQ teams, ensuring alignment, streamlined execution, and the achievement of key organizational goals. 



Innovation:  

  • Develop new ideas and partnerships for sustainable business expansion and growth. 
  • Take measured risks to test, pilot, and scale new products, services, and partnerships when profitable. 

Global Operations Oversight:  

  • Oversee multi-regional operations, ensuring service delivery aligns with client expectations, contracts, and KPIs while promoting speed, flexibility, and dependability. 
  • Ensure rapid mobilization and field readiness for new client deals, collaborating with field operations, duty-of-care, and Sales/BD teams. 
  • Drive operational efficiency through process improvements, automation, innovation, and sharing best practices across regions. 
  • Monitor and report on operational performance, ensuring alignment with targets and providing regular updates to the CEO and ExCom. 

 

Crisis Management & Security Leadership:  

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security and emergency plans, including training, medical response, evacuation procedures, and contingency planning, to ensure staff safety and business continuity. 
  • Provide decisive leadership during crises, navigating local political challenges and ensuring swift, effective responses to security incidents and medical emergencies. 
  • Conduct risk analysis and guide critical operational challenges, ensuring coordinated resolutions and protection of business integrity. 

 

Client Services & Relationship Management 

  • Identify new business opportunities and collaborate with Sales/BD teams to expand CTG’s client base, focusing on growth in existing markets. 
  • Strengthen client relationships and enhance retention by ensuring service excellence, addressing feedback, and implementing continuous improvement strategies. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring consistent communication and alignment between client needs and service delivery. 


Team & Talent Management:  

  • Lead workforce planning and talent acquisition initiatives across regions, optimizing organizational structures and securing top talent to drive operational excellence. 
  • Foster a high-performance culture by implementing recruitment, development, and performance management practices aligned with CTG’s standards. 
  • Actively participate in talent reviews and succession planning to ensure leadership continuity and support long-term growth. 


Financial Oversight: 

  • Oversee regional budgets, ensuring cost control, resource optimization, and compliance with financial guidelines. 
  • Monitor financial performance and drive initiatives to maximize Return on Capital Employed (ROCE). 

Project reporting

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer

Key competencies

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR? 

  • Education: University degree in Management, Business, Finance or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • Experience: 15+ years in operational leadership, including 5+ years in senior management roles. Experience in challenging environments preferred.  
  • Skills:
    • Commercially driven mindset and exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with key clients  
    • Expertise in global operations management and crisis response. 
    • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and cost control. 
    • Fluency in English (required); French or Arabic (desirable). 
    • Strategic thinker, resilient leader, culturally sensitive andInnovative 
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to high-risk or remote locations.
