Work Location

This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person (at United Nations Headquarters in New York) but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the public information intern may be responsible for the following duties: - Participates in media monitoring: researches and evaluates global news coverage and related social media conversations pertaining to the conflict in Ukraine. Develops subject matter expertise in topic. - Utilizes specialized online tools such as Talkwalker to monitor traditional and social media. - Researches, compiles and drafts information for use in the preparation and production of reports and social media content. - Takes on other projects as assigned. Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme but are encouraged to list all relevant experience in their personal history profile (PHP). The following skills are desirable: - Knowledge of media monitoring and analysis. - Knowledge of social media metrics. - Experience using functions and performing data visualization using Excel and PowerBI.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Knowledge of social media metrics is desirable. Knowledge of media monitoring and analysis is desirable. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required; Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable.
