The Protocol Team in the Office of the Director-General of UNOV/Executive Director of UNODC (ODG/OED) is hiring one intern at the UNOV and UNODC headquarters in Vienna, Austria, to start as soon as possible. We are seeking a highly motivated graduate or, if applicable, an undergraduate in the final year of their studies in Art History or a related field. Art students who wish to gain professional experience cataloguing the Austrian Art collection housed at the Vienna International Center (VIC) are invited to apply. This internship will include practical and educational experience and provide an exciting opportunity for the selected candidate to work in a multicultural, intergovernmental organization. Under the supervision of the Protocol and External Relations Officer of ODG/OED, the intern will work on a project that may include assignments that are relevant to the educational background and interests. The intern will have an opportunity to apply and further develop the theoretical and practical knowledge of how Art History and Modern Art and the United Nations administrative and legal framework are applied in the specific operational context of UNOV and UNODC. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a degree programme in Art History or Modern Art. Applicants must demonstrate their intention to study further or to work in a field relevant to the work of the Protocol Team of ODG/OED, UNOV/UNODC. Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: • Either (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Applicants should have strong drafting skills and demonstrable experience in conducting research, particularly in modern and contemporary art, with excellent writing skills being desirable.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Spanish and German is an advantage.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
