Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the
FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems,
for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief Economist and in cooperation with responsible units, the incumbent will provide support to the office of the Chief Economist in reviewing technical reports including flagship publications produced by the Economic and Social Development Stream.
Reporting Lines
The Incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Economist.
Technical Focus
Provide technical support to the Chief Economist office, in particular in reviewing technical reports and preparing technical inputs on issues related to food security, nutrition and agrifood systems transformation.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Review technical reports including flagship publications and provide suggestions for improvement
• Provide technical advice and support the implementation of Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACs) initiative
• Provide technical advice and support the implementation of Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty (GAAHP), focusing on the review of the policy basket policies.
• Provide technical advice to Chief Economist on issues relating to technical work linked to statistics, poverty and agrifood systems
• Work on methodologies measures of poverty, multidimensional poverty and hunger
• Provide technical support on methodologies to measure market structure in the agrifood systems
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree in development, international relations, economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years (Category A) of relevant experience in economics, development or international relations.
• Full proficiency in English and in Spanish.

Selection Criteria
• PHD in related field is desirable.
