Every refugee deserves to be in touch with their family. Could you play a key role in helping reunite families who have been separated? We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Reunion Project Officer to join our team…
A day in the life of our Family Reunion Project Officer:
As a Project Officer, you'll play a key role in facilitating family reunion in the UK. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality, responsive family reunion services in the region, which positively impact the lives of refugees and allow you to make a tangible difference to the people you support.
Behind every great cause there's a great team making everything possible, you will work collaboratively as part of a team to enable refugees to exercise their family reunion rights through conducting complex casework, advice, and representation at Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) Level 2. You’ll be supported by a fantastic team of volunteers. You’ll be responsible for recruiting, training and managing them, ensuring they’re confident delivering our service.
You will also manage key internal relationships and external partnerships with agencies and partners in the sector and contribute to advocacy efforts to achieve positive change for our service users.
To be a successful Family Reunion Project Officer, you’ll need:
- Ideally you will be Level 2 at the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA, formerly OISC) for Family Reunion work, or willing to work towards accreditation
- You have experience of delivering casework with vulnerable clients, coupled with proven ability to ensure sensitive, safe and ethical working practices
- You have experience working in the legal sector and have knowledge of relevant legislation
- You have good knowledge and understanding of the roles, functions and purpose of statutory and non-statutory agencies in the field of refugees
- You’re organised with excellent time management skills – you can plan, manage and monitor own and others workload. You can respond to and prioritise a range of competing demands.
- You have excellent team working and communication; you have well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with people from different backgrounds (and whose first language may not be English)
- You understand and empathise with the needs of refugees and asylum-seekers
In return for your commitment and expertise, you’ll get:
- Holidays: 36 days annual leave (including bank holidays) + option to buy 5 extra days.
- Pension scheme: Up to 6% contributory pension.
- Flexible working: We do our best to accommodate your preferred work style.
- Learning & Development: Wide range of career opportunities + comprehensive learning.
