Purpose
The Regional Digital Officer for Spanish leads efforts to deliver compelling and engaging content (proactively and reactively) through the direct management of official digital channels (social media and website). S/he identifies social media trends and applies them appropriately in-house, creating and adapting best practice accordingly. When needed, s/he provides guidance and support to staff on social media use and produces in-depth reports on content performance. This role involves overseeing all stages of content production, including ideation, production, adaptation of already existing content, editing, and validating with the aim of supporting ICRC operations, influencing relevant decision makers and mobilising support for the organisation.
Accountabilities & functional responsibilities
- Develops and implements the strategy for global social media channels in Spanish, ensuring alignment with the Institutional and COM strategies, the Regional Strategic Framework and Humanitarian Diplomacy efforts in the Americas region, including search-engine strategies, key performance indicators and a plan of action.
- Ensures accurate, timely and effective delivery of digital content in Spanish speaking platforms, optimized for search and audience engagement, partnering with Audiovisual Producers, social media leads, Web Editors and Digital Officers at headquarters and in the delegations.
- Manages global ICRC social media accounts in Spanish, posting content and responding to comments and direct messages in an appropriate fashion.
- Creates, edits and repurposes strategic social media content, with a clearly developed narrative and tone of voice aligned with operational priorities and influencing efforts.
- Ensures a diverse, participatory, and inclusive approach to how we talk about and represent affected people in social media, and all communications adhere to our ethical communications guidelines.
- Uses a variety of analytics tools (e.g. Sprinklr) to identify and understand social media audiences and behavioral trends.
- Produces social media reports on the growth and audience of their accounts and how content is performing – makes strategic recommendations based on results and implements them.
- When needed, conducts ongoing competitor analyses and makes recommendations for improving the ICRC’s online position.
- Builds internal capacity and knowledge on digital best practices in SP speaking delegations, with a focus on promotion, development and audience engagement.
- Supports SP speaking delegations with in-depth social media guidance on setting up a strategy, managing and mitigating risks, growing an engaged community, influencing audiences and effecting behavioral change.
- Coordinates ad buys to ensure positioning of the ICRC on key contexts, themes and issues
- Provides support in crisis / emergency for regional content when needed.
- Identifies and addresses harmful information in a timely way, in close coordination with colleagues in relevant areas and/or Movement partners.
Qualifications
- Degree in Communications, Audiovisual Production, Journalism, or related field.
- At least 6-7 years of experience in social media management or content production with expertise in video production, graphic design, and content creation.
- Proficient in social media management and analytics tools and.
- Skilled computer user of web publishing (content management systems, including Drupal) and design tools.
- Experience in design and implementation of creative social media campaigns.
- Expertise with ad management.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Native Spanish speaker. Excellent command of English.
