The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources sustainably.
Reporting Lines
The MEAL Assistant, MEAL Enumerator will be under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) in Sudan, and the direct supervision of the International M&E Specialist.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will support FAO Sudan by providing expertise in data collection for emergency and program components. Key responsibilities include gathering data on activities, compiling MEAL-related data (beneficiary verification, post-distribution monitoring, post-harvest assessments), and conducting phone surveys during key activities. They will enter data onto FAO databases using tools like Kobo Toolbox, ensuring accuracy and compliance with FAO’s Data Protection Policy. This role requires attention to detail, familiarity with digital data tools, and a commitment to ethical data handling practices.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Collecting data and information on the activities of each component of the FAO emergency and programme components.
• Assist in compiling MEAL data for various activities, including beneficiary verification, post-distribution monitoring (PDM), post-harvest assessments and baseline/endline studies of FAO projects under the emergency and programmes components.
• Organizes and conducts phone-based surveys during the peak of the Call Centre (CC) and field data collection activities.
• Follow FAO Sudan survey methodologies and existing formats for data and metadata storage (databases, tools, protocols).
• Enter data received from interviewees and key informants into FAO Sudan databases using Kobo Toolbox and other computer software.
• Maintain a schedule of surveys and interviews efficiently towards their completion.
• Ensure compliance with FAO Data Protection Policy during data collection and management.
• Perform other related duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Economics, Rural Development, Project Management or a similar field.
• At least one year of experience in conducting a similar assignment will be required
• Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Arabic.
• National of Sudan.
