Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Economic Recovery Assistant.
About the job
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Economic Recovery Project Manager, the Economic Recovery Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of DRC Economic Recovery activities in the Sahrawi Refugee Camps in Algeria, in adherence with DRC and donor guidelines and standards. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Provide support to all DRC Economic Recovery project activities undertaken in the Sahrawi Refugee Camps.
- Serve as the main focal point for a camp for all DRC economic recovery field activities.
- Support the identification and mobilization of youth beneficiaries for the economic recovery project.
- Plan and conduct a variety of economic recovery trainings to project beneficiaries in all 5 camps.
- Provide support to all stages of beneficiary selection in all 5 camps.
- Support the distribution of grants (in-kind and cash) to project beneficiaries.
- Conduct regular monitoring and coaching visits to project beneficiaries; identify and promptly raise issues encountered to DRC management and local authorities as relevant; provide solutions; and implement modifications as required.
- Support with Monitoring and Evaluation activities of all aspects of the economic recovery project.
- Support the development and improvement of DRC Algeria’s economic recovery project and associated processes.
- Provide administrative and logistical support required for the successful implementation of project activities.
- Coordinate field activities with relevant stakeholders and local authorities as and when relevant.
- Support market studies and research, including but not limited to: facilitating quantitative/qualitative research activities and data collection, mapping of actors, business providers, and other economic recovery interventions, socio-economic profiling of youth, accessibility of markets for goods and services, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About you
To be successful in this role it is preferred that you have practical experience in project implementation and monitoring within local or international NGOs, associations, UN agencies, donors, etc. Moreover, we also expect the following:
- Prior experience working in the Sahrawi refugee camps is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience working with youth (in activism, advocacy, associations, etc.) is an advantage.
- Living in the camps or Tindouf is preferable.
- Open to candidates from all camps, but preference for candidates located in the Laayoune camp.
- University degree or Diploma in economics, business management, community development, social science, or other subject relevant to the programme.
- Proficient in spoken and written English and Arabic essential; Spanish and Hassaniya dialect are an advantage.
