Successful fulfillment of this role will contribute to improved patient outcomes, greater psychological resilience among staff, and the overall effectiveness of the UN Health Care Center’s multidisciplinary approach.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical Psychologist at the UN Health Care Center will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions to UN personnel, their families, and eligible beneficiaries. This individual contractor role is vital in supporting mental health and well-being within the UN community by addressing a wide range of psychological and emotional concerns. The Clinical Psychologist is expected to uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality while working collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environment. This individual contractor Service is located at the United Nations Health Care Center in the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Division of Administration. The present TOR is intended to guide the consultants in the dispensation of their duties at UNHCC to ensure clients’ satisfaction and respect the organization’s rules and regulations from the health standpoint of view. The Clinical psychologist will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the UN Health Care Center. He or She may also collaborate with other clinical leads and administrative staff as required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and any designated Officer, the individual contractor will perform the following duties: • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, psychological testing, and diagnostic evaluations to identify mental health conditions and psychosocial needs. • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches tailored to each patient's needs. • Provide individual, group, and family counseling for a variety of mental health issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment disorders. • Offer crisis intervention and support for acute psychological emergencies and collaborate with medical staff in managing high-risk cases. • Educate patients and their families on mental health promotion, coping strategies, and relapse prevention to foster long-term psychological well-being. • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential clinical records and prepare reports for referring clinicians and relevant stakeholders as required. • Consult with other healthcare professionals regarding psychological findings and participate in multidisciplinary case discussions to optimize patient care. • Ensure adherence to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and UN policies regarding mental health care and patient confidentiality. • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive patient management plans.
Qualifications/special skills
• A first-level university degree that qualifies the holder for registration as a licensed clinical psychologist is required • The candidate must hold current, unrestricted registration with the medical licensing authority of a United Nations Member State. • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible clinical experience as a clinical psychologist is required
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this role, fluency in both oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
