Since 2017, IRC has supported Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi nationalities communities in Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong with integrated services. The organization also addresses climate change impacts by building resilience and promoting economic recovery, education, and protection.
Purpose of the Role
The Research Manager - Education position will be the in-country lead role for the design, implementation and analysis of quantitative research-related activities undertaken by ERICC to understand the drivers of learning (access, quality, continuity) and its influences on learning outcomes (literacy, numeracy and social-emotional learning) over time among Rohingya learners in Cox’s Bazar. The role involves managing complex longitudinal datasets, conducting research analyses, ensuring methodological rigor and generating research outputs that informs policy and programming needs of learners and education stakeholders in Cox’s Bazar. The Research Manager position works closely with the Senior Project Officer- Database Management to support field teams and researchers (in-country and global teams) to drive quality data production, management, and analyses are executed to high standards. The Research Manager directly reports to the Research Specialist and will work closely with the Education Coordinator, Regional Research Director and Regional Education Technical Advisor.

Highlights of Key Responsibilities
The Manager Research will perform a variety of tasks in leading the research activities including, but not limited to:
Study Design and Methodology
- Co-lead the design of the research study, including developing the sampling strategies, survey tools to be used for the overall data collection.
- Ensure methodological consistency within and across waves of longitudinal data collection
- Develop research questions, methodologies and analytical frameworks for research outputs being planned as part of the larger study.
Data Analysis and Interpretation
- Lead analysis of longitudinal data tracking cohorts of learners over time, includes applying appropriate statistical techniques and conducting analyses on large, complex datasets.
- Interpret analyses in the form of tangible research outputs (policy briefs, manuscripts for publication etc)
Data Management Oversight
- Work closely with the Senior Project Officer- Database Management to ensure high quality database structures, management and plans for data collection.
- Oversee data cleaning, validation and preparation for analyses.
- Ensure analytical frameworks and workflows are properly documented and reproducible for future analyses.
Research Implementation
- Coordinate with the Senior Project Officer- Database Management and field teams, to ensure high quality field plans, data quality assurance mechanisms are in place for data collection.
- Ensure regular monitoring of data quality during fieldwork and provide routine feedback to improve data quality and fieldwork.
- Support piloting and refinement of survey tools.
Analysis, Reporting and Dissemination
- Lead the analyses and write-up of findings into actionable evidence in the form of research outputs, including reports, policy briefs and academic papers.
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders, including at team, donor meetings, webinars and conferences.
- Contribute to knowledge dissemination strategies and evidence, including engaging with education Sector stakeholders, to determine how the evidence can best inform decision-making and identifying suitable platforms and opportunities to disseminate findings.

Experience and Competencies: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 5-6 years of relevant work experience in quantitative or mixed methods research.
- Experience working on large-scale, complex surveys and datasets
- Proficiency in statistical analyses software (R, Stata, SPSS) for analysis
- Experience with sampling methodologies and survey design.
- Experience with longitudinal or panel data analyses is desirable
- A strong understanding of research methods and prior training/experience in quantitative or mixed-methods research
- Track record of publishing research papers or contributing to rigorous research outputs.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, particularly managing research projects; meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, including the ability to be solution-oriented, resourceful and communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of education systems in Cox’s Bazar or in similar contexts.
- Experience engaging with policymakers and translating evidence into practice.
- Experience working in humanitarian settings is preferred.
- Fluent in English and Bangla; fluent in Rohingya, Chittagonian, or Burmese is a plus.
- Flexible, independent, self-motivating, ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure.
- Interest and ability to work and be based in Cox’s Bazar.
