We are currently looking for a UK Director based in London to provide strategic organisational leadership, inspiration and guidance to ensure that the overall IR objectives are achieved. This is an innovative lead role in the UK requiring strategic and sustainable expansion of funding from and engagement with the UK public. In addition to the core fundraising remit, the role and division leads the public and media relations, programs and manages key stakeholder relationships nationally, in coordination with IRW which oversees the same globally. You will lead and strengthen IR’s relations with the wider humanitarian and development community to consolidate and develop the visibility and image of the organisation. You will facilitate professional and systematic communication and cooperation between the different parts of the IR family to ensure maximum impact of the organisation’s work.
The UK Director will lead on the development, implementation and regular review of the division’s strategy, work plans and systems to achieve the agreed divisional objectives. You will lead, manage and develop the divisional staff in order to ensure that the work force is capable of fully achieving their agreed targets. The post holder will lead on the development and utilisation of a consistent, coherent, meaningful and positive IR image and set of core policy and advocacy messages. S/he will develop and utilise partnerships, networks, institutional relations and funding opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a well established understanding of fundraising, public relations, development and humanitarian work, with a proven track record in initiating and maintaining successful partnerships and relationships. You will have proven ability to give direction to staff at senior levels through delegation of authority and task. You will have experience in strong financial and resource management which enables strategic goals to be achieved within budgetary constraints. You will have an excellent command of written and spoken English. Arabic, or an Indian Subcontinent language will be desirable. A post graduate degree in Business Management degree is desirable, a qualification in fundraising, communications or associated subjects preferable
