Education Project Manager


Job description

  • Line management for project staff
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and Education strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant Education projects
  • Coordinate and manage Education project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Education and Youth Specialist
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with Coordinators) and coordinate across CCs
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Manage and implement NRC projects in formal schools in Jordan
  • Manage and implement NRC projects in non-formal/alernative/informal schools in Jordan
  • Consolidate NRC projects in host community in JOrdan and expand programming to new geographical area, integrating with other CCs.
  • Ensure strong coordination and linkage between NRC's school construction programme in the host community and ensure that Education standards and guidelines are implemented


  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical Education expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Knowledge of the Middle East Syrian response context, with specific knowledge of the camp and out of camp context in Jordan
  • Experience of working with major Education donors
  • Experience of managing complex refugee education responses
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the Arabic language is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Commencement: Janyary 1st 2016
  • Contract period: 18 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s national salary scale and terms and conditions
  • Duty station: Amman, Jordan - family duty ststion.
  • Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start
