New business development manager, Global Health

Chemonics seeks a new business development manager for its newly formed Global Health Division. As a member of the new business team, the manager will track upcoming proposal opportunities for a robust forward market, build staff capacity in new business, and provide support to proposal development efforts in the division. The global health new business market for 2016 is exciting and robust and includes projects spanning diverse geographic areas. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Initiate and develop effective working relationships with clients, potential partners, counterparts, stakeholders, subcontractors, technical specialists, and donor agencies
  • Identify and develop new business leads in global health
  • Oversee management of new business consultants, including timesheet management and ensuring processing for consultant payments
  • Develop and supervise proposal strategies in collaboration with the senior vice president and director of new business development to optimize Chemonics profitability and win rate
  • Learn and promote strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development and cultivate collaborative working relationships across the company
  • Engage in information sharing and best practices with the company
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff
  • Provide organizational planning and management support to external facilitators


  • ​Bachelor's degree in international development or a relevant technical field required; master's degree preferred
  • Three years of experience in international development
  • Two years of contract management and/or proposal preparation experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad for a minimum of four to eight weeks per year
  • Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
  • Mastery of critical project management skills, including budget management, contractual compliance, client relations, and personnel management
  • Strong Microsoft Office and word processing abilities; excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on one or more projects and provide support to proposals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience supervising or mentoring employees preferred
  • Demonstrated experience writing and leading proposals preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity​
