Fundraising and Communications Manager

Makati City | Manila (Philippines)

ACF is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for ACF in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: Nutrition, Food, Security and Livelihood, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Advocacy and Good Governance.


The role of the Fundraising and Communications Manager is to lead and facilitate the operationalization of its fundraising and corporate engagement strategy, corporate identity in the mission, including safeguarding its identity from misuse.

· Establishing solid partnerships in order to achieve the country program goals and objectives and to raise funds and advocate for all ACF program activities

· Raising the public’s awareness of the challenges to attaining its vision of a world without hunger and of solutions to these challenges

· Sharing information with stakeholders on innovations, new and best practices and lessons learned with regard to its work

· Increasing ACF’s legitimacy and credibility as a humanitarian and development organization and a leading expert on issues related to hunger and malnutrition.


Objective 1: Strategy & Management; Fund raising Technical Leadership/Corporate Engagement

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· The long term strategic planning, decision-making in the analysis, development and operationalization of fund raising activities, to optimize fundraising and revenue potential following the fundraising strategy.

· The implementation of fundraising strategies and action plans to achieve the target outlined in the plan.

· Development of market research studies to identify fundraising potential and identify precise strategies to meet the targets drawn from the strategic plan.

· Development of a corporate engagement strategy guided by nutrition-security focused approach in order to leverage resources in addressing hunger and undernutrition.

· Training and capacity development of the program team in corporate partnerships and in innovative fundraising methods and techniques.

Objective 2: Strategy & Management; Brand, Communication Strategy, Crisis Communication

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· The management of the brand, image, positioning, reputation and credibility of ACF in the Philippines

· The translation of the brand in the design of office interiors, interventions, collaterals, merchandise and packaging

· The development and implementation of the overall mission communication strategy and work plan

· The adaption of the communication strategy and work plan in response to emergency and/or crisis

Objective 3: Programs & Projects; Communication Strategy, Visibility, IEC, Events

· Ensure every project has a communication strategy and work plan

· Support project teams in the implementation of the project communication strategy and work plan and in the external communication of their messages and activities Ensure ACF and donor visibility, IEC materials and activities, and project events are in line with ACF and donor guidelines and with the project communication strategy

Objective 4: Stakeholder & Public Information; PR & Media, Social Media, Collaterals, Events

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· An open line of communication with ACF’s stakeholders and the public through social media and events, plus ACF’s Stakeholder Feedback Mechanism for beneficiaries

· The generation, framing and timely dissemination of relevant information about ACF, its work and its contexts through various communication channels, such as print, broadcast and online media, including social media

· The development and dissemination of print, broadcast and digital collaterals, such as press releases, press dossiers, project briefs, project videos, quarterly newsletters, etc.

· The management of donor and local and international media visits, public, media and related events, and communication, media and related activities

Objective 5: Partnerships & Participation

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· Synergies with other ACF missions and HQs, donors, I/NGOs, UN agencies, government, media, service providers and other stakeholders.

· The mission’s contribution to inter-organizational platforms, such as the Humanitarian Communication Group, the Communication with Communities Group, the communication working groups of national clusters ACF actively participates in (e.g. Nutrition, WASH, FS), consortiums, coalitions, etc.

· The mission’s contribution to the ACF regional group for Asia (e.g. regional newsletter), and to the ACF International Network

· The mission’s participation in the celebration, commemoration or marking of world days and in public, media and related events, and communication, media and related activities

Objective 6: Capacity Building

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· Communication, media and related trainings to mission staff (e.g. social media, visual narrative, photography, videography, public speaking, media interviews, crisis communications)

· Development and implementation of communication, media and related policies and guidelines (e.g. IEC, visibility, media, events)

· The management and update of the stakeholder and media database, speakers bureau and the audiovisual archive

· the mission’s knowledge management practice in compiling, organizing, storing and sharing visibility and communication-related materials, through the intranet

Objective 7 Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting

Initiate, lead or facilitate:

· The development of a system that would facilitate the regular production and delivery of communication, media and related reports to the mission and HQ

· The documentation, review and reporting of all communication work, from strategies to activities

· The monitoring and evaluation of the effectivity and reach of the mission’s communication and media initiatives, including the tracking of media and social media statistics



Advanced university degree in Business Administration or Communications or any course in Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Multimedia Arts, Marketing or Psychology. Additional professional qualification in fundraising and/or marketing and/or communications an asset.


· At least 4 years’ experience in a diverse array of Fundraising and Communications-related work, with demonstrable knowledge in Branding and Marketing Communications, Resource Mobilization, Strategic Communications, Corporate Engagement initiatives, Events Marketing & Organization, Fundraising, Media & Public Relations, Social Media, Interactive Media, Multimedia, Videography, Photography, Publication, etc.

· Proven track record in leading and managing various resource mobilizations and communications projects and in coordinating with diverse project stakeholders


· Excellent research and writing skills: can gather, analyze, synthesize and organize diverse information; can write and edit copy, scripts, speeches, blogs and tweets

· Excellent communication skills: can give creative direction; can summarize, simplify and frame issues, and position ACF to effectively convey a message to various audiences; can relate issues to the contexts of various audiences; can translate complex information into visual language; can use various media to convey messages

· Excellent presentation skills: can develop and deliver presentations and talks tailor-fitted to various audiences

· Excellent management skills: analytical and well-organized; self-motivated and proactive; can work unsupervised and take responsibility for decisions and actions; can think and work under pressure, multi-task and manage multiple deadlines; can organize people and events, and mobilize groups

· Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills: can diplomatically work with and consultatively lead a wide range of stakeholders

· Languages: Can speak fluently and write effectively in English and Filipino, and preferably in Cebuano
