International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs, seeks candidates for the position of Human Resources and Administration Volunteer in the Central African Republic.

Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

International Medical Corps has been operating in CAR since 2007, primarily in the north-eastern regions of Vakaga and Haute-Kotto. International Medical Corps has also been supporting Sudanese refugee in Ouaka prefecture in the south of the country since 2010. As of 2014, International Medical Corps has expanded its areas of operation to include Bouca sub-prefecture in the northwest and was chosen as an implementing partner at an additional two refugee camps in the south. Currently, IMC is managing programs in Vakaga, Ouham, Ouaka, Haute-Kotto and Haut-Mbomou regions implementing primary health care, secondary health care, nutrition, protection, and mental health activities.


The Human Resources & Administration Volunteer will assist the Finance and Administration Director (FAD) and will follow-up on HR procedures and files in the field and in Bangui. The Human Resources & Administration Volunteer will be supervised by the FAD.


  • Support the FAD and HR staff with administrative tasks such as planning staff leave schedules, developing onboarding materials for new staff, updating, archiving and filing relevant HR documents, and updating SOPs for visas, work permits and travel permits.
  • Assist in writing/translating (English to French and vice versa) guidelines for staff performance evaluations.
  • Support the recruitment process for national staff.
  • Assist in developing training and capacity building plans for national staff
  • Review all leases and rental contracts to ensure adherence to IMC policies and procedures.
  • Support the mission in following the National Staff Handbook.
  • Assist with ensuring that all relevant IMC policy documents are publicly posted in English and French.
  • Support other HR or administrative tasks as requested by the FAD.

  • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, administration, business or social sciences will be considered an advantage.
