PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates with expertise in RH focused programming and interest in innovative social/behavior change communications for the position of Project Director for a USAID reproductive health project in francophone Africa. You'll manage a small team of experts in the field and work with experienced colleagues across West Africa and at PSI HQ.

Your contribution

Oversee Projects

  • Provide financial and programmatic management to the Project, including all donor deliverables, reporting and work plan and budget development and execution.
  • Work with PSI network members in relevant countries to design and execute project activities and to respond to Mission specific requests/buy-ins to mechanism.
  • Oversee monitoring of project activities and reporting on indicators

Provide Strategic Leadership

  • Provide managerial, strategic and technical leadership to the Project.
  • Serve as primary liaison with USAID Missions in relevant countries and with USAID Global Health Bureau in Washington DC. Report to USAID on program.
  • Develop a cohesive project strategy across three implementing countries to keep programs focused and leverage lessons learned across countries
  • Lead and monitor the development of budgets annual work plans.

Manage Relationships

  • Manage relationships with international and national partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage relations and oversee delivery of activities by project sub-contractors.
  • Develop external relations, in particular with government, NGO, donors and the private sector.

What are we looking for?

The basics

  • At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in the management of health-related programs in developing countries, preferably Africa.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in the management of complex, multi-country projects.
  • Experience managing USAID funded projects (preferably in a director or deputy director role).
  • Familiarity with US Government regulations (e.g. Federal Acquisition Regulations and Foreign Assistance Act).
  • Demonstrated experience partnering at the country-level with Ministry of Health and at the global level with stakeholders, donors, etc.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large and diverse teams.
  • Professional fluency in French.
  • A Master's degree in public health or other related area, or a bachelor's degree with at least five years additional relevant experience.
