Medical Commodities Manager

Antioch | Ankara

This is a senior national position with responsibilities of managing the operational part of the pharmaceutical supply chain of the emergency medical program. This position will be based in IMC’s main medical warehouse. The primary functions of the Medical Commodities Manager is to assist the Deputy Medical Coordinator Medical Commodities in procuring, warehousing, distribution ensuring inventory accuracy from warehousing to transportation to field site delivery points; supervision and capacity building of medical warehouses staff through supportive supervision, on-the-job training and use of standard quality assurance tools.

  • Conduct quality control for the procured pharmaceuticals, medical consumables and medical equipment following IMC protocols

  • Review medical supply stock and update warehouse and procurement reports regularly and make sure WH Ledger and paperwork are up-to-date and correct at all times

  • Conduct regular warehouses supervision to ensure proper storage, proper shelfing, proper environmental control, proper inventory and stock

  • Ensure regular and effective communication with Logistics follow up on shipments and movements of medical commodities and procurement follow up on procurement process and ensure the procurement of the rights goods, help in identifying new suppliers, participate in the pre-qualification process

  • Compile and assess medical commodities stock data and submit timely reports including cyclical and regular inventory of all warehouses, monthly medical stock analysis, scheduled IMAT exercises and FEFO tracking reports.

  • Maintain a proper record of Medical Commodities PRs.

  • Build the capacity of medical warehouses staff, which deal with the medical commodities and ensure compliance with IMC guidelines.

  • Ensure adherence to and act in accordance with relevant policies and procedures

  • Pro-actively maintain open and professional relations with International Medical Corps team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions

  • Any other duties as assigned by the manager

Qualifications:

  • Must have degree in pharmacy or related fields of public health and relevant experience in managing large stock of medical supplies

  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience working with pharmaceuticals and medical supplies

  • Must have experience with ordering and tracking medical procurements

  • Must have experience with warehousing and assembling medical and surgical kits

  • Must be able to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators

  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic preferred

  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Office specially MS-Excel and MS-Word

  • Must be able to travel to field sites (Turkey and Syria)

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment

  • Must have the ability to work effectively with various personalities and cultures
