Data Analyst

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : The Department of Operational Support and Services is comprised of several services, Infrastructure Support Services (ISS), Logistics Support Services (LSS), Contracting and procurement (CPS), Security Services (SEC) and the Global Conference and Training Centre (GCT). The Work of OSS is included under the scope of Category 6, to develop and sustain WHO as a flexible, learning organization, enabling it to carry out its mandate more efficiently and effectively, and Programme Area 6.4 to provide effective and efficient management administration established across the Organization. LSS responsibilities include provision of high quality services to WHO in the areas of travel, conference services, and other general services, in an efficient and cost effective manner. Technology plays a significant role in delivering these services, and the objective is to ensure that WHO utilises relevant and appropriate systems to make processes related to service delivery as efficient and user-friendly as possible, within the resources available. These systems must be supported and maintained and keep abreast of developments in the related sector/industry.Within LSS, the purpose of this post is to provide support, specifically related to systems used to deliver travel services, conference services, and other general services to LSS business units for improving service delivery under the respective areas of responsibility, from the business owner perspective, and to provide meaningful reports/data from the business owner perspective, which will facilitate management decision making in these areas. Description of duties: Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator and overall guidance of the Director OSS, the incumbent will perform the following duties: 1. Develop, maintain and update reporting tools that retrieve, combine and consolidate data from multiple sources (for Travel: GSM, eWork, travel agent portal, UNDSS TRIP system. For Conference services: GSM and meeting room booking system. For General Services: GSM) and facilitates generation of useful, customisable reports for management decisions. 2. Conduct analysis of the relevant systems and processes to investigate and troubleshoot the root cause of problems, identify, evaluate and recommend solutions to the problems, and implement agreed solutions to resolve data quality and consistency issues that arise. 3. Coordinate engagement with ITT in support of LSS requirements for GSM Travel Module and other corporate systems as a result of any changes in travel policy or processes. 4. Collaborate with LSS business users, and work closely with ITT, to support evolution of LSS technology requirements by investigating options and recommending appropriate solutions to address required functionality to meet the evolving needs and nature of the travel and conference services sectors. 5. Act as focal point and interlocutor for LSS for issues that arise related to LSS business systems,- work closely with ITT, GSC and appointed supplier(s) on identification, resolution and testing of issues related to travel processing. 6. Ensure ongoing and timely follow-up with relevant stakeholders and LSS business users on any assigned projects related to LSS systems and data analysis requirements. 7.Carry out other data analysis assignments and develop reports on an ad-hoc basis as needed. 8. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Demonstrated experience in translating business issues into technology solutions.Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience working within a team environment across business functions.Desirable:Knowledge of WHO-specific GSM, and more specifically the GSM Travel Module. Languages: Essential:Expert knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of French. Additional Information: WHO's salaries are calculated in US dollars. They consist of a base salary and a post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station and exchange rates.
